View Full Version : my engine is yelling eklips99 05-25-2009, 10:52 PM my lawn mower starts yelling when i start it, it seems like its the starter? 30yearTech 05-25-2009, 11:06 PM my lawn mower starts yelling when i start it, it seems like its the starter? Sounds like you may have a dragging starter clutch. Model Type and code from the engine will help to diagnose your issue. Maytag 05-26-2009, 12:28 AM "Sounds" like you need this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-QINnsFYw0&feature=channel_page - if your mower is a Briggs and Stratton. about 3:15 into the video he describes what is possibly your issue. Don't be confused. The first frame of video says Ford. It's just a logo off of a Ford truck stuck to the front of a guys Briggs and Stratton lawn mower. Good luck. If your mower isn't a briggs I know 30yeartech will have some top notch help for you. Sorry for butting in 30yeartech, I found this video awhile ago and it says it all if this is his machine. >Maytag :o eklips99 05-26-2009, 10:22 AM thank you MAYTAG and 30yeartech you advise was helpful eklips99 05-26-2009, 12:15 PM were do i gate the tool to remove the starter cluth geogrubb 05-26-2009, 12:26 PM IMHO, it is a nice video but he took the long way around the barn. 1, check the oil,2 check that it has a tight blade,3 remove the air cleaner spray a little gas or starter fluid in the carb, 4 see if it will start before doing all the other stuff. Have a good one. Geo OOOPs, sorry, forgot it was all about the starter clutch. Geo 30yearTech 05-26-2009, 06:48 PM Sorry for butting in 30yeartech, I found this video awhile ago and it says it all if this is his machine. >Maytag :o Hey no problem, but you got to be careful with some of the advise this guy gives. Not all his video's are on the mark, but this one is alright with regards to starter clutch service. I would not go to all the trouble of making a special tool to remove the clutch, you can pop the cap off and access all the components that need servicing without unscrewing the clutch base. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
