While getting an AW Baja Chevy Blazer body ready I came upon the great idea of using the clear plastic top of the AW/R2 packaging as a "Submersion Tub" to strip HO bodies. I also use a piece of old lead printing type as a "brick" to keep the body from floating up on top.One thing you need to be cautioned on ; Polly-S Easy Lift Off ( ELO) causes clear plastic to "Cloud".You will need an alternate method for stripping "Glass" .Also it leaves a slightly dull finish on non-clear plastic but is VERY effective at stripping bodies.Also I find that ELO can be "Recycled" by pouring the used ELO through a coffee filter & removing the paint/chrome residue.The ELO can be used again for the next strip.Also it is good to clean off of the body with cold water any trace of the ELO as it can cause some plastic to become brittle after excessive submersion-overnight is more than enough.Once done let the plastic dry off in an open container & it will be good as new.

Oh no! I played ELO for 15 minutes. The bodies still have their paint but my head hurts! Did you mean pre-sell out ELO or post-sell out ELO? I assumed post-sell out cuase that stuff is pretty caustic and put on Disco? Very (Discovery). It only seams to affect my head. Too. Much. Disco...

The hurting Hutt :drunk::hat::freak::dude::tongue:

CAUTION!

ELO makes JL & AW bodies brittle! Especially the POSTS!

Never soak on ELO for more than a few minutes at a time. Soften some paint, soft brush while under cool running water. Do as many times as you need to.

I have had posts crumbling apart lately when I run the screw into my new customs.

Yepp I was thinking the same thing Joez. I stripped 13 Pink and Purple JL Baja Bugs and was carfull like you said and still had the front part of the sunroof opening crack on me on a few....Caution! super glue fixed my problem but, I don't want to have to super glue all of my bodies.

I scrub with a toothbrush and then rinse in liquid soap, rinse in cold water and go back for another scrub. I also first throw my bodies into Pine Sol to remove as much paint as possible first...Then ELO to finish up.

A body like the AW 57 Panel can stand ELO a little better than a VW Baja or a 57 AW with tiny window post...steer clear of any long term ELO exposure to tiny and skinney widow post.

Bob...just saying...zilla
