View Full Version : Memorial Day, Take Time to Remember.
A/FX Nut 05-25-2009, 07:58 AM Good Morning Everyone,
Just want to remind everyone that today is Memorial Day. Take time to give thanks to those men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep this nation free.
I'm going to do it with prayer. "This nation under god", has prevailed.

AMEN! Thank you Randy, as well as my father, uncles, and several of my personal and great friends! We greatly appreciate all that you have done and words will never be enough to repay your commitment, character, and integrity to do what you were called to do! May God richly bless and continue to cover your lives with his hand of protection.
Thank you for keeping us FREE!

AfxToo 05-25-2009, 12:56 PM As a veteran I appreciate the sentiment but A/FX Nut is absolutely correct in noting that Memorial Day is to pay homage to those service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and died in service to their country. Today's holiday is to remember our most hallowed heroes. It deserves to retain its separate and special distinction from Veteran's Day. Thanking and honoring all those who have served is important, but remembering those who cannot acknowledge our gratitude deserves a much higher level of reverence, which is the purpose of Memorial Day.

tjd241 05-25-2009, 08:28 PM 99 words in The Sentinel's Creed....
My dedication to this sacred duty
is total and whole-hearted.
In the responsibility bestowed on me
never will I falter.
And with dignity and perseverance
my standard will remain perfection.
Through the years of diligence and praise
and the discomfort of the elements,
I will walk my tour in humble reverence
to the best of my ability.
It is he who commands the respect I protect,
his bravery that made us so proud.
Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day,
alone in the thoughtful peace of night,
this soldier will in honored glory rest
under my eternal vigilance.

This list is a small drop in the bucket of places where American Servicemen and women have fought and fallen. We would not have become the country we are today without their sacrefice. Today is a special day to honor their sacrefice. However, everyday should be dedicated to preserving our society so that these sacrefices never become in vain.

This evening the Columbia, Missouri TV station reported a parade downtown for the veterans. Isn't that a different day. My 6 year old argued that aren't the dead veteran's also. I said yes but it it is not Veteran's Day. I said that I am not taking anything away from someone that has served and protected our peace but today was for the people that gave their life for our freedom. I really was happy when the already slow CUP race was stopped for a moment of silence in rememberance off our fallen brothers.
