A few time ago I tried to use wax on a die cast car too.
The results was excellent, after a wax treatment the car looks pristine, like if it was brand new.
But I wonder if the product can damage the painting in the future, indeed the wax I used was designed to polish real cars (with another treatment in final painting) and was not designed to be applied in die cast items, so I decided not to use anymore on my die cast collection in order to avoid future problems.

There is some stuff called Diecast Wax otherwise maybe use a wax made specifically for clear coat paint surfaces since they would be the least abrasive.
The idea though makes me kind of nervous.

I polish some of my Kyosho cars. They look and feel excellent after the wax treatment. The only problem is that you have to be careful not to get too much wax into the little grooves or onto the small details like the grills or lamps because it's very difficult to get it out. Liquid wax is easier because it leaves the least amount of residue. I use cotton swabs for application and fine scratch-free cloth to finish. Oh, one other problem is that they get so slippery that they can fall out of your hands easily.

Use water + tooth brush and sharp wood toothpick to take off the wax residue

I used to polish or wax the diecast I bought that were scuffed
up by the plastic blister - results were pretty good.

I rarely buy these sort of cars now a days so no more 'wax on'
or 'wax off' for me.
