Hi,
I just bought the rustler by traxxis. I am having a ball with it. I am new here and was wondering what other Rustler owners thought of it? I haven't upgraded as i find its fast enough as it is. I hear a lot about Lipo batteries and was wondering if it makes muchof a difference. i currently get a good 20 minutes from what Im currently using.

lipos make a big differnce in performance and run time, if you have the vxl brushless system in it, just make sure you have your esc set to lipo cut-off mode, light should be green, nicd or nimh light should be red.

Thx!.Ya I have that type of Rustler. My son broke the part connecting the front wheel last night and now I have to bring it to the repair shop. Seems I have been breaking a lot of my rc cars lately. the expenses can add up. Um, about Lipo, do i have to buy a new charger or can I use my existing quick charger I use for the regular 7.2 v battery I am currently using. ?? Oh, and I know what you mean about the cutoff button on my rustler. I didn't put it to red and the darn thing cut off and stopped my Rustler on the street when I was first testing it. It took me awhile to figure it out.

Hobbycity has the zippy 2s 4000 hardcase and the charger is the Turnigy accucell-6 which you will need a power supply ($10) 2 batts and charger for around 120

The traxxis Rustler and my traxxis boat all say to use their traxxis battery connectors but my battery only has the molenex type(standard), so I cut off the traxxis and soldered on the standard connectors. Do you think this is a bad idea? For awhile I cut off all the terminals and simply twisted the wires together and put an electrical marett on the connection. The battery's don't come with traxxis male connectors attached so that why I cut them off. I don't know if the traxis manual is bluffing when it says only use their connectore or if its a sincere statment?

Some are better than others but I use trx connectors on nimh and lipo with no problems.

Deans connectors work great, if you're wanting to switch.

I spent a half hr trying to solder these stupid traxxis connectors onto the wires and they don't fit into the plastick holder cause i used too much solder. I find it very frustrating when they make such difficult connectors. traxxis could have allowed for a little more space where the leads go into the clip. I ended up switching back to Milen or whatever its called...then when i'm finished i had the male female reversed!/ I feel so stupid. back to the drawing boards agains!...ill check out Dean connectors also. What i also find odd is that the 7.2 v battery's seem to have such rubbery wire connectors that when i bend the battery into my rc car or boat over time, the wire begins to strip exposing the wire at the closest end to the battery so I have to put a piece of tape inbetween in case the other wire gest stripped and i short out the battery. they sure don't use very good wires for the battery's.

try putting some heat shrink over the wires.

I am going to get my battery's re-wired from the terminals up, at the store and have them do the traxxis connectors as I made a mess out of them...
