I had a nightmare where I drove my slot car to the moon.

But that was after a high speed crash that day where the car flew off the track,
and 2, 6 packs of beer.

I am a slot tard. And, a H O holic. Unfortunately, I'm moving this week and I'll be off line from Weds morn til sometime Thursday! But next week you'll have to start putting up with me.

That's nothing, I have had a recurring dream where I am shopping in a store (sometimes it's the old Goodwill when they still had all the Toy R Us returns) and I find tons of slot sets and Indv. cars, and of course they are dirt cheap and in great shape.

BUT, before I can check out, I wake up :(

I'll bet a lot of us have nightmares about finding tons of cool slot stuff and not being able to buy it. I know I do. Since I have taken zero psych classes but I hung out in one's office weekly for about 5 years, I am going to say we all remember times where we could have bought slot stuff that is rare now at cheap prices and did not do so. We had other priorities at the time and never thought the then current stuff would go poof!

I got out of school and found out my slot stuff was gone. I was living in Louisville (1981-1984) and there were a couple of nice hobby shops with major amounts for Magnatraction, G-Plus and 440 cars plus the related parts. I scored a small set for real cheap at Service Merchandice and got a couple of G-Plus and 440's. I had just gotten married and we were saving for future stuff so I stopped at that initial start. Fast forward to a few years ago and I was majorly jonesing to get back to HO. The original Auto World was closed! Lots of cool stuff had become out-of-production and hence, collectable. I could find stuff but a lot of it would (and will) run ya.

So, I'll dream I'm in Louvul or over in N'albny (New Albany for those that are y'all challenged) in some sweet shop that has a treasure trove of HO goodness and phoom - I wake up with empty hands.

I want to dream about being a kid again and racing all my old favorites. All I can remember is the tan corvette. And, maybe a Galaxie. If I dreamed it, I would know what to be looking for. Now, I just browse and see if something pops out at me. I would also like to dream about Motorama. That's the place we used to go to on Sat. from the YMCA when I was young. They had like 8 big layouts. I would take the bus there. Some where between 7 and 12. It was great!
