I was asked to post this up here, for the MB guys that might not make it over to the custom boards.

This is a restoration / custom project (still under construction) but I am so pleased with even finding this casting that I had to go ahead and post the pics! This is a Matchbox Ford Group 6 casting. This reissue was released in 1986 and used opaque windows to conceal the interior delete and plastic bases to reduce cost, the series was called Super GT.

originally released in 1968 as #45 (I think!). You guys will have more info then I do on the diecast version. But this replicated the Ford powered, P38 / FL3 built by Allan Mann Racing to replace the GT after Ford withdrew it's factory teams from Le Mans racing.

Hope you like, I will post more when it's finished! Thanks for the look.

Yes I is Lum, this is the greatest car to ever suck! The real life monster was a real junker, it never EVER finished a race in two years! But I am replicating the most successful of the loosers, thus the red and special wheels. Decals are coming soon!

well... technically a restoration would also paint it back to original colors... instead of paint it another color... also to put the original wheels back on. I think this is more a custom restoration ;)

Looks good, either way. I like the satin red look and the wheels set it off.

Wun very nice paintjob with the right rubber:thumbsup:
We look forward to seeing those race numbas!

I didnt realise the real deal never finished a race, now I know why Ford dropped the GT40 series, its all about traditional Ford quality and the profitability of their spare parts operation:p

Incredible rendition Ward. I think I have a couple of those around. You may have inspired me to do a little research and try something like that myself.
