I find it odd that we can see in high-def every little hair and stretch mark on Seth Rogen's pasty white bottom in Zack and Miri Make a Porno but those movies (especially the older Pixar titles) that scream to be made into blu-ray don't have release dates set.
Some blu-ray releases, I'm like, "why? Why do we need to see this in such detail?" The Godfather and Full Metal Jacket for example.
Gimme Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. any day!

That's sort of like asking; why would you prefer 20/20 vision to wearing glasses? The benifit of HD is to give the viewer a visual clarity much closer to the way the image originally appeared on film - regardless of that image's "genre".

Gimme Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. any day!A Bug's Life will be released on Blu-ray next week. Monsters Inc. will be out in November. Finding Nemo was supposed to have been out this past November, but it was held back for some reason. No doubt it will come.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the first two Toy Story movies out in the first half of next year, to tie in to the theatrical release of Toy Story 3.

The first two Toy Story films are going to be re-released into theaters early next year IN 3-D to prepare us for Toy Story 3-D. I am sure that they will be hitting Blu-Ray some time after that.

I am sure that they will be hitting Blu-Ray some time after that. What I had heard was that they'll be re-released in 3D later this year -- around October or November -- for that purpose. That's why I speculated they might be out on Blu-ray early next year.
EDIT: According to an article in Variety published back in March, Toy Story will be out in 3D on October 2 of this year. The 3D version of Toy Story 2 will follow on February 12, 2010. Toy Story 3 is set for June 18, 2010.

So, the plans changed since that article was written. As it currently stands, the two earlier Toy Story movies will be released in 3D at the same time, for probably only two weeks, in October. Some reports say they'll be released as a double-feature. That last would be cool for adults, but I wonder how many small children could sit still that long. Regardless, there's a chance it might be my son's first trip to see a movie in a theater. He'll be four by then, and it might actually be helpful that they are movies he already knows and loves.
I want to train him to sit and watch a movie in the theater, because I've had my own trips to the theater severely curtailed since he came along.
But now my wife is pregnant with our second child, due in December. Here we go again!

The Pixar movies will be worth waiting for imho. While it's a very subjective thing, I'd probably rate Pixar's Cars as the nicest transfer in my blu-ray collection. It's a noticible improvement over both the standard DVD and the transfer that ran on the various HD channels. The picture quality is really breath-taking, almost everyone who's seen it on our TV has commented on how good it looks.
