wannafbody 06-03-2009, 07:35 PM I'm a bit disapointed with Greenlight in regards to the Chevelle. The color is too close to a GM. Looks like I'm gonna be returning that one.

Actually, the two colors are not even close. Side by side the green machine is always metallic green much brighter the this standard version.

Looks to be Rally Green, which was more commonly seen on mid-year 68 and 69 Camaros and 69 Novas but was also a mid-year option on some Chevelles for 68. My pet peeve again with GL and 68 Chevelles....THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE VENT WINDOWS!!!! Every GL 68 Chevelle so far has been minus vent windows and to me, makes the whole casting look wrong.

IMO the colors are pretty close. You have to put them side by side to see that the Chevelle is a tad bit lighter in color. Without a GM to compare one to it's hard to realize that the Chevelle isn't a GM.
robertwadehall 06-03-2009, 11:15 PM I like the color on the '68 Chevelle..nicer than the green machine color, and it's a real color...Rally Green.
alex1485 06-03-2009, 11:42 PM I like the Daytona...
dragonhead00 06-04-2009, 12:47 AM I'm not a Chevy guy, but I'm diggin' the Vette and the Chevelle.

Hello wannafbody,
The color of the Chevelle was not done as a way to deceive anyone for sure. We actually hosted a vote over on our collector club site Under the Hood and they all voted for Green Wheels and Green Chassis as their favorite green machine traits. So quite a few (but not all) of our recent series have been going in this direction.
This works out well in this case because it allows us to do a great late 60's vintage Chevy color and still have a different looking green machine (the wheels will give it away). Sorry if this caused any confusion but we thought that the color looked great on this car.
Thanks for the comments as always and keep them coming.

Hi Jim,
I am sorry to hear the vent window makes you less interested in the car. As you know, this mold is for both the '68 and '69 models. And you obviously know your Chevelle history and that the '69 does not have the vent window. When we make a mold like this, naturally some of the parts have to be shared from one model to the next. I don't have an unlimited casting budget (unfortunately :)) and this would mean this mold would have four windshields (one 68 convertible, one 68 hardtop, one 69 convertible and one 69 hardtop). Not only does this get expensive for molds but also on the unit price - we would inject and only get one windshield out of that injection. Where as on most we get at least two but usually four per injection. Spending exponentially more on parts or unit price means I have less to spend on making other new molds. It all comes from the same place.
So suffice to say - we appreciate your passion for Chevelle details. We try to keep that same passion when we make our molds to make all the collectors happy and hopefully most times we succeed. Keep the comments flowing and hopefully we can keep the new items coming out to spur on more dialogue like this.
Thanks,
- Matt
wannafbody 06-04-2009, 10:13 AM No problem. I simply returned the Chevelle but the Turbo TA is a keeper.
radams801 06-05-2009, 02:57 PM We have all of these at our tru if i can help any of you guys out. I paid $4.99 for the TA Green Machine yesterday and this morning the rest were still on the pegs, including the reg TA. Cost is actual cost + actual shipping cost(not trying to make anything off fellow boardies!!) If i can help you out lmk e-mail is radams801@bellsouth.net thank,s Russ:thumbsup:
Eurosport94 06-08-2009, 12:42 AM Found all of these guys the other day, and picked up the TTA. Very nice car!
WarbirdTA 06-08-2009, 11:31 AM Can you guys who got the 1989 Turbo TTA, post up the number on the bottom?
The 1/1 scale owner's would love to get their matching car number.
Thanks,
George
Eurosport94 06-08-2009, 11:37 AM Np! Mine's 3565
moparmarc 06-09-2009, 03:16 PM Daytona is sweet!
if anyone finds #0069 or 1969 on the bottom of the daytona on the shelf somewhere, grab it for me please..
Galaxieman 06-09-2009, 03:59 PM Is it just me or does the windshield on the Chevelle look worse than on the 65 Galaxie convertible. I think it is way too tall and too upright but no one else has mentioned it!

Woe, yeah - that one got by me.
The windshield sits or leans to far forward making it look way to tall.
Are they all like this or just this one?
To me, stuff like this is critical and should be just as easy to get it right as to get it wrong. Alas, it's not a perfect world, and from pix the casting looks good otherwize.
rattlehed 06-11-2009, 07:43 PM I for one am glad the 68 Chevelle resembles a Greenie, all of the unknowing HW guys are buying them up and making space in my stores for more inventory. These clowns ONLY buy the green machines, NEVER regulars, so that tells me they don't do anything to support a decent company that treats their collectors about as well as can be expected. It IS, after all, a business, in business to make money, so ya can't cater to everyone all the time but at least they pay attention to us and actually value our input. I think it's pretty safe to say we won't see that from Mattel or JL/RC2 anytime/ever. The windshield on my 68 looks OK but I'd like vent windows too. But overall the casting is very nice(as usual). I'm all for a good ol' monkey wrench to keep folks on their toes, reminds me of when you had a shot at finding some new whitees with obscure traits that someone else missed!

Do you buy 'cause you like it or because you think it's a GM? I've heard that these flew off the pegs because they look like GMs. That's too funny!
robertwadehall 06-14-2009, 02:20 PM That is funny... I don't waste my time on the Green Machines (I don't get into the 'chase' car nonsense), but like the color on the Chevelle, as it is a factory color (Rally Green).

..... and a cool factory color at that. I'm not sure why any collector of those cars would complain about a great factory color. Who cares if it resembles a Green Machine.
kanabrew 06-30-2009, 08:20 AM I buy Chevelles and bought the 'green' Chevelle Conv.;) I would like to see a 71 Chevelle SS in Harvest gold ..the Chevy color was available only for a couple years. I had one....... My all time favorite 1:1 car!!
