I have been searching around the web and cant find to much info on what Im looking for.
I did find a wonderful list of 1/43 scale models that are great for kit bashing but I want more!
I was wondering what kits you guys use to fit on SCX compact chassis and what SCX compact chassis you use. Also what other chassis do you use with what other kits?
I am also looking into doing some tinkering with my HOs and was wondering what brands work out best with what chassis. I am working with a Tyco chassis right now. I forget what model but I really like how you can remove the front axle and place it in a different spot. That has helped out with different brand cars having different wheel bases.
Im using the 1/43 scales more for model villages and such so if I reduce performance thats not so much of a big deal.
Thanks!

for Tyco... go to ebay and look for tyco body junk lots... they should give you a start on your customs. Bag Dawg Body's also has some great Tyco body kits... see the Bad Dawg threads for examples

try ebay search for seller **traxs** be sure and put in the astericks. There's nothing listed right now, so click on completed listings to view some bodies that are available...RM

For 1/43 SCX, its going to be hard to find any aftermarket, non-SCX to fit it without doing some work on the mounts and lining up the wheel wells. Hotlaps Racin and Ranch Design are two of the biggest ones I know that you can get some nice lexan and resign bodies for 1/43. Will they fit SCX chassis, specifically? You might ask them. Electra Fly racing is another guy who does some very nice lexan racers, but I think most of his stuff is on e-Bay (can't remember what his e-Bay handle is right now).
Unfortunately, unlike HO, the 1/43 and 1/32 scale modelers do not have the choice of various body makers making aftermarket bodies for 1/43 cars. Most of them are lexan based and if you do find a resign molder they are just starting or have just quit.
I've seen many 1/43 guys take plastic model kits from ERTL, Bodia, and various other kit makers and build and customize their own cars and then retro fit them onto the chassis of their choice - most use Artin chassis to do this though.
I'm not sure if this has helped, but thought I'd give you some feedback on the 1/43 side.

Thats what Im looking to do. Im looking into getting into some kit bashing but I only have SCX chassis at this moment so I was hoping I could get away with using them. So far nothing fits the SCX wheel base out of the diecasts and other 1/43 toys I worked with yet. I didnt do model kits just yet though. Im sure some of those will work.
I know someone said Heller works with SCX, well some Heller that is.
I hate the lack of detail in the Artins but I guess if I can dig up some cheap chassis its worth a shot.
Im not looking for any vacs or anything like that. I want to mount regular old model kits. Vacs are cool but I still see some that are not as fine as some model kits are. At least for 1/43. No point using that scale for its detail if you are going to just lack in it anyway. I am looking into 2 for HO at the moment but Im waiting on a reply.
When and if it comes down to it I can give scratch building chassis a shot out of tubes but right now Im not in the position to get into that just yet.
I also have been eye balling the Ranch designs chassis for the last two days. Im in the process of moving so as of now everything is on hold and Im just absorbing what I can.
