I have three trak power 4900's that are about 1 1/2 yrs old....they still work fine, voltage is down slightly but they take long time to charge up....normally to put in 3000 milliamps takes 2 hrs...maybe longer... anybody know if this normal??

What amperage are you charging at?

sounds like they are being charged at a REALLY Low amperage.

Also, have they been balanced?

(Out of balance may be a reason for a lower voltage)

My 2+ year old ORION 3200's are still virtually the same VOLTAGE now that they were then...and they have been ABUSED pretty hard.

(I only have 2 of my original 3200's left (out of 6) though.)

OVER Discharged ONE - swelled it up
CRASHED two - broke internally
Hooked one up backwards - blew something internally

3 of the 4 were purchased USED - Cheap, and provided a LOT of great service for a LONG time.

Try a different charger. Are you going to Bay City to practice tonight?

Two hours at 6 amps would give you 12000mAh. That 4900 pack would have exploded if charged that much. :) My guess is you have a weak cell and your balancer is trickle charging some of the cells to try and bring them into balance.

This would be true if the charger is NOT using the CC/CV charging...

My question would be, how long does it take the battery to reach the MAX Voltage setting before it starts dropping the amperage?

A 6 amp setting on a 4900 pack is not much higher than a 1c setting. So it will be a pretty SLOW charge time. Try setting it upto a 2c setting and see how long it takes...and also be sure to note how long it takes before it hits the 8.4v range...

tried all above ...still takes forever....charger is orion advantage plus.....have 2 of them both do same... use to charge in a timely manner....my orion 3800's charge in app. 24 min. so i don't think its the chargers .. voltage is down to about 8.34v when it comes off the charger. one battery never gets to the 8.41, it gets to 8.39v, other 2 batt. get to 8.41 but drops to 8.30-8.34.... they have been good battery's, starting to lose some punch but still aren't ready for disposal....factory says they are good for app. 200 cycles and these are way over that mark being used nearly every weekend multiple times for a year and1/2......appreciate all comments and will continue expermenting....

200 cycles isn't really very much for a LiPo. Many manufacturers boast way more useful cycles than that.
But, if the manufacturer says that's what they are good for and you are way over that I suppose you have worn them out. Especially if you have other packs that are charging more effectively.
