Never left Earth and never met Anton Karidian as a child. Never had dealings with the cloud creature. Never served on the Farragot. What else is now moot?

I been thinking... This movie never happened.

The Bad Guy and Old Spock came back becasue of a disaster in the future they couldn't stop.
But now old Spock is in the past, so can stop the disaster. So the bad guy won't come into the past. So this movie never happened.

He never was bugged by Finnegan at the Academy.

He never was bugged by Finnegan at the Academy. How do we know that?

Plus, I was bugged by Finnegan in "Shore Leave." I still remember him today -- proof positive that TOS wasn't "wiped out of existence" after all! ;)

Never had to wear a girdle in the third season. Never ... talked ... like this!Actually it was toward the end of the second season that Kirk began turning into Captain Tubby. Shatner got himself slimmed down and back in fighting shape in time for the third season. Not that it helped the show any.He never was bugged by Finnegan at the Academy. That Finnegan was such a jerk, hell, I wanted to beat the tar out of him!

If this Kirk didn't have a brother then the flying parasites weren't stopped at Deneva.

If this Kirk didn't have a brother then the flying parasites weren't stopped at Deneva. You see Kirk's brother in the movie. He's the somewhat older young man walking down the road when Kirk blasts by in the Corvette.

Interesting to note that, as in the "prime" timeline, Kirk still takes the Kobayashi Maru test three times.

I like the fact that Kirk is listening to The Beastie Boys in the 23rd century.

NONE of those things are explicitly contradicted by the events in the film. The film shows us that some outcomes are not altered, even if their causes change (Kirk becoming Captain of an Enterprise with the same crew), those events still could have occurred under different circumstances. Kirk may still have encountered Karidian as a child, plus have served on the Farragut during his rise to Ensign and encountered the creature then.

He never was bugged by Finnegan at the Academy.

I like to think one of the thugs beating Kirk up at the bar is him.

I thought that kid was the brother too, but if not, there's still nothing indicating he doesn't have one in the film.

Now that I could live with. There's nothing in the TOS universe that didn't happen. Unless you believe time is truly linear... Look at shows such as Dr Who with London for instance, how many times was/has/is about to be etc ravaged, enslaved, destroyed.... So that is how I am looking at the new Trek universe... It's just like a snow melt from the mountains that then forms streams they're all water and they all flow down hill. They just do it in differant ways and courses to end up at the ocean of the future...

What about Ben Finney? Were he and Kirk still friends? Did Ben name his daughter after Jim Kirk? Since Kirk's first assignment was the Enterprise, then did Finney ever draw a reprimand?

Also, did you notice in the film, during the "inquiry" after the Kobayashi Maru, the panel had their nameplates. You could read the ones Komack, and Chandra. Chandra was in "Court Martial".

Pike didn't experience the events shown in "The Cage" and has been promoted to Admiral, so the trip to Talos IV involving Kirk and the crew won't happen.

ThisGuy

Pike could very well have experienced the same events on another ship during the three years we don't see, and will still return to Talos IV to live out the remainder of his life.

Kirk never had a son. Who would mess with physics and create the Genesis Device. Thus eliminating a vital plot device(from a famous, and not very good movie).
Not to mention screaming into the communicator, KAAAAHN!!

Kirk never had a son. What makes you say that? We didn't know anything about David Marcus in the prime timeline until Kirk was 50 years old (we presume that was his age in Star Trek II, anyway).

At the end of the movie Pike IS in a wheelchair... hmmm...

Of course the people that wrote the NSTM (New Star Trek Movie) should get an award for "Most clever use of a plot twist"...
Now ANYTHING that deviates from the TOS is just cause & effect from the new timeline... Clever...

Very simple, his mother said she wanted him in her world. Not chasing around the universe with his father. Which means both were very early in their careers(in their mid 20's). If Kirk is made the captain of the Enterprise sooner all of those events will not occur. Because Carol Marcus and Kirk were very serious(they were going to be married). If he is suddenly Captain of a starship, his time is gone, no time for a Girlfriend much less anything serious.
And another thing, he will most likely not survive to to even pick up Kahn in the first place. An inexperienced captain means a lot of stupid mistakes. Most of which will end badly. Of course the writers will help out those shortcomings. :p

The ST time lines have been changed so many times, there is no way to have any true argument on the subject. I only assumed this thread is having fun with the subject. Sorry for my mistake, I didn't realize we had to argue each point. If I wanted this kind of fun I would go back to college.

But then, I've gone to college (to work there) for almost 11 years, so maybe I can't tell the difference anymore!
