harristotle 05-11-2009, 02:00 PM BOSS 429!!!!! EEK!!!!! I am SO excited about this release!!! Any chance of an engine shot on the Boss 429? I'm really hoping they put the correct engine in it instead of just changing the exterior...

Awesome! Thank you! :D
72challenger 05-11-2009, 06:33 PM Still haven't seen Release 4 here :(
Lummox 05-11-2009, 08:04 PM I know these are better than JLs in a way, but I'd much rather see castings not done so much.
These look really good though!
wildbill63 05-11-2009, 09:06 PM Got a friend (hard to believe huh? lol) that has a '66 Charger, he's going to love this one!
This is his ride, its a project in progress car and the pic is from our back yard car show last year,

Nice looking Boss 9's. A black version would be really cool in the future.

Agreed. That and a Grabber Blue one... my all time favorite color.

Yes I wish M2 would select cars more like they have done for the 50's cars. The Boss 429 looks very nice but GL and JL have satisfied my needs. How about a 70 Cougar Eliminator or be real wild and do a 70 Ford King Cobra. At the very least I would be happy of M2 made a 1970 Boss 302 with a shaker. They have made all the parts all ready to do it.
But after all my grumbling I'll still buy the above castings just like I have on every other M2 casting.

No black for 70's so it wouldn't be factory. I would love the grabber blue as well.
DCPDGUY 05-12-2009, 08:49 PM I wish I could afford to buy one of each casting .The Charger will make a nice addition though.
No black for 70's so it wouldn't be factory. I would love the grabber blue as well.
You are right. Black was available in '69, not '70. So, I'll go with Grabber Blue too

You are right. Black was available in '69, not '70. Now that I think of it, I don't beleive white was offered in 1970 either. These were the 1970 Boss 429 colors as far as I know: Grabber Green, Grabber Blue, Grabber Orange, Calypso Coral, and Pastel Blue. Is this car White? Maybe its Pastel Blue?

At first it looked white to me... but now that I am paying attention, the more blue it looks.
Here is a photo of a real Pastel Blue Boss 429. Supposedly only 18 were made in this color. The M2 version looks right to me. Cool!

I thought it looked blue as well, I'm glad I'm not crazy lol.
69 colors were: Raven Black, Royal Maroon, Black Jade, Candyapple Red, and Wimbledon White.
70 colors were: Grabber Blue, Grabber Green, Grabber Orange, Calypso Coral, and Pastel Blue.
I got the info from themustangsource.com
Atencio 05-13-2009, 12:45 AM That is a pretty Boss 429. I have never seen one in Pastel Blue.
Here is a 70 Boss 302 in the same color

Neither have I ... but then the only one I have seen (in person) was Grabber Blue.

Nice Boss 302. Do you think that is what JL was going for with this color?

Its looks a bit dark for pastel blue, but too light for grabber blue.
dipstick 05-13-2009, 09:05 PM GRRRRRRRRRRR - lets do some muscle that hasn't been done!!!!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRR - lets do some muscle that hasn't been done!!!!!!
So who has done a 1970 Boss 429 in Pastel Blue before?????
Pewter02WS6 05-13-2009, 11:32 PM So who has done a 1970 Boss 429 in Pastel Blue before?????
i believe he was referring to the two new castings in this release not the colors.;) some of the cars they have been releasing have already been done by JL or greenlight. it would be nice to see them release some muscle cars that haven't already been done in higher detail.

I'm sure they would if they thought it would sell. I certainly don't mind more Mustangs.
alex1485 05-15-2009, 12:27 AM i've seen gold boss 302s... and all the normal colors EXCEPT white which i find weird.

i'm sure there are plenty of cars that would sell very well that haven't already been done. i don't mind seeing the 442s they have been banging out, i bought all of them but it would be nice to see a few castings of cars that haven't been done already. instead of following, they should lead by giving us a few castings that have never been done before in high detail such as a 74-76 trans am, a 78-81 camaro, an 86 pontiac 2+2, 72 pontiac ventura II, a 76-77 monte carlo, a 78 monte carlo t-top. perhaps some wouldn't sell well but i know the camaro and trans am would be big hits!! i have a feeling the 2+2 would be as well.
edseldave 05-19-2009, 12:11 AM I agree with dipstick , Lets see some muscle not done before .. 64 - 72 Cyclones , Fairlanes , Torinos , Rancheros , 65 Cuda , 65 442 , etc .. Lots more stuff to be done thats not been done already ! ....
Cottonmouth 05-19-2009, 09:05 AM I'm glad that they are making the Mustang castings. Just wish they would have left off the Mach 1 hood hold downs on the non-Mach cars.
Dadvball 05-19-2009, 02:55 PM I'd like to see the 429 done in the candyapple red. back in '69 when I was 14 I'd pedal my bike the half mile to Tasca Ford every Sunday just to look through the glass at the one in the showroom. That baby has been and will always be my favorite car.
AQUA XK8 05-19-2009, 03:02 PM As far as I'm concerned, they don't need to do 'muscle' cars. If they just did cars that haven't been done before that will keep me happy and buying their product. They started off great, then fell flat on their face, making the same ole same ole.
Moneys not tight for me, but I'm turning off the money spigot to them until new, original product starts to be produced again.
As far as I'm concerned, they don't need to do 'muscle' cars.
I'm sure there are a lot of people that would disagree with you on that. I'll take all of the well done highly detailed Mustangs I can get. I think they can do both.... and probably need to from a business perspective.
Some of you may recall this interview with Sean of M2 by Dave Weber, which was posted in a previous thread:
http://www.breithaupts.com/totc670.htm
You may find this paragraph interesting, especially the bolded part:
"It has been noted by the collector community that many of the selected models have not been previously replicated in small-scale, while other models have been created numerous times by competitor firms. For example, the recently issued DeSotos are new to the market. Yet, in the same series the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has been produced by numerous manufacturers in 1:64 scale. But this is the first model to show additional detail enhancements not previously presented by other manufacturers. Sean advised that during his Muscle Machine era of employment, the model most in demand was the 1969 Camaro followed closely by the 1957 Chevrolet. With these popular marques, the more models that are sold by M2 will hopefully keep the prices for these collector masterpieces at a reasonable amount."
I certainly understand the desire for models that have not been done previously. However, that doesn't mean they should stop producing the popular models.

Couldn't have said it better myself!
jimhowie2000 05-25-2009, 05:19 PM I'm seeing the same mistake on those "67" Novas that JL made.....they have a 66 grille and front headlight bezels. The grille for a 67 actually has a horizontal split and the headlight bezels for a 67 cut further into the front fender than those on a 66, and also carry the grille texture into them. Jl did the same thing, but at leat attempted to make the grille look closer to an actual 67.
