View Full Version : Kirk and Spock on SNL Antimatter 05-10-2009, 11:35 PM http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/update-feature-star-trek/1099561/ deadmanincfan 05-11-2009, 12:19 AM Was that a howl or what?!:lol::lol: Magesblood 05-11-2009, 08:49 AM whoa! They can say that on TV now huh? Certainly not your father's SNL anymore. I'm sure they've said worse - it is live after all. Dave P 05-11-2009, 09:45 AM I saw that Saturday. What a surprise. Very funny! SteveR 05-11-2009, 12:41 PM Can't see the clip in Canada. P. M. O. PerfesserCoffee 05-11-2009, 01:37 PM Funny stuff! LGFugate 05-17-2009, 11:48 AM It was funny up to the point that Leonard Nimoy said anyone that doesn't like the movie is a "d**khead". I don't like it, so that makes me one? I am very offended. Seriously so. SteveR 05-19-2009, 02:01 PM It was funny up to the point that Leonard Nimoy said anyone that doesn't like the movie is a "d**khead". I don't like it, so that makes me one? I am very offended. Seriously so. :cry:If Nimoy had said "idiot" or "fool" instead of "d**khead", that would have been offensive, since Nimoy would have appeared to be making a serious judgement of the viewer. However, saying "d**khead" made Nimoy appear juvenile, thus lowering his status, and making his comment something not to be taken seriously. That's the way those jokes work. deadmanincfan 05-21-2009, 11:48 PM ...plus I doubt that's a word that froquently crosses Vulcan lips... LGFugate 05-24-2009, 06:44 PM In reflection, I see your point, but I was already upset over their depiction of Star Trek "fans". Shatner was right in his sketch on SNL, telling the "fans" in the skit's audience to get a life, but calling, even jokingly, someone whose opinion differs from your own, a d**khead, is bad. Made worse by the one saying it being someone you've admired and respected for over 40 years. That kind of humor has to be mutually agreed upon by all parties beforehand to avoid insult. The skit was fine (except for the "trekkies") until Nimoy appeared. BTW, does anyone know of any other work that Chris Pine has done? He seems to be a good Kirk, but I was curious about his pre-Kirk work. How about Karl Urban? LOVE his depiction of McCoy!! (DeForrest Kelly must be smiling up in Heaven!) Larry Griffworks 05-24-2009, 09:49 PM Chris Pine's IMDb entry (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1517976/). Only thing I've seen other than the new Star Trek movie which he's appeared in is Smokin' Aces. PS: Please watch the language, guys. I realize you're directly quoting Mr. Nimoy and also realize you're offended by his use of the word for this occasion, but the Terms of Service above are pretty clear. If I get a complaint from someone, I'll have to go in and edit your posts. For now, tho, since you're directly quoting Mr. Nimoy, I'll leave the posts alone. Just please don't use your own "edited" version gratuitiously. It's a fine line to walk and hopefully Hankster won't have a problem with it since it's a direct quote and not folks taking shots at each other or just using harsh language. Call me Heavy Handed again if you like, but if Hankster takes issue all bets are off. LGFugate 05-25-2009, 10:34 AM Thanks, Griff, and sorry for the "word". Larry El Gato 05-25-2009, 01:54 PM Call me Heavy Handed again if you like, but if Hankster takes issue all bets are off. No, I'll call you a.... conscientious moderator. :):tongue: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
