Does anyone know if the Victor can be upgraded to a lipo or where you can get one service?

Did the fancier victor charger have an adjustable voltage cutoff? If so, you could carefully charge a lipo on it.

I don't think it does.

I heard rumors of a industrial Victor that had lipo charging ... but I have never seen one. I think someone on rc-tech mentioned that they had the prom for it but it didn't work right. The interesting thing would be use the fixed voltage motor current measurement to charge the lipo. I wouldn't recommend doing it though ... there are too many good/cheap lipo chargers to risk a incident with a 10-20 year old charger.

A lipo charger is only fixed voltage variable current for the last portion of the charge, so that would not work.

Any charger with an adjustable voltage cutoff i.e. Futaba CDR-5000 works great though.

I heard that some guy was charging the lipos and a 15 amp charge rate? If so haw are they doing it and with kind of charger are they using?

Well I know how you could do that easily enough, but why in the world would you want to?

For the same reason that guys are dead shorting 4 cell and heat them up? They want a edge over the other racers?

Its not going to give you an edge it'll just wear out the pack quickly.

FYI dead shorting 4 cell packs and heating the lipos (sensibly) don't hurt them. Charging at 15A will. Not to mention whether or not it is particularly safe, especially if you're talking a 3200 pack.

Pat,
A friend of mine has a CDR-5000 that he would like to use to charge lipos. How does he need to set it up, and how safe is it?
