For those of you who may want to know, BRASCAR stands for: BRass Antique Slot Car Auto Racing. A set of rules can be found here; http://www.riggenho.com/rules.htm. Those who contributed to the formulation of this rules framework include some of the Who's Who of early 70's Midwest HO racing; Gary Rider, Doug Morris, A.J. Hoyt, Ron Bernstein, Ken Shepard, Al Thurman, Terry Hreno, Richard Picard, and Keith VanAtta.
After some 35 years, we remained true to our famed Midwest Rules Meeting philosophy of, "there isn't anything we can't argue about", but, Gary Rider's steady guidance got us to the goal of a platform of rules from which non-magnetic 70's style brass car racing can emerge. Much like the current 1/24th Retro movement, embodied by the IRRA and D3, BRASCAR has at it's core the spirit of innovation and creativity that permeated the early 70's HO racing. BRASCAR seeks to promote the art of scratchbuilding while trying to answer a question which many racers from that era have asked, "What would have happened if magnets hadn't played a role in the handling of HO slot cars?".
We invite everyone to view the rules and keep tuned to this channel for 70's HO racing with a 21st century twist.
Be good,
Keith VanAtta
