The War of the Worlds UK website has an interesting review of an OOP DVD documentary on George Pal's WOTW, includiong info on a proposed TV series that Matt Jeffries did designs for. It sounds an awful lot like the Magicam pilot for War of the Worlds, which featured in a Magicam article that appeared in Starlog back in the 70's. Anybody know if they're one and the same? And has anyone here ever seen the WOTW Magicam footage? It looked really terrific in the Starlog article, with Greg Jein's miniature work on display.

It is the same pilot. I bought the DVD that the site reviewed, and the footage is not very long. Most of it is preproduction art.
The Leif Eriksen ship was changed very little, and was the ship that was to be used.
