For those of you who may not be aware, the guys that wrote the script for the new Star Trek movie also wrote a 4-issue mini-series comic book, titled Star Trek: Countdown, that details the events leading up to the movie. The comic begins the story several years after the events of Nemesis. A resurrected Data is captain of the Enterprise-E, Spock is Starfleet's ambassador to Romulus, Picard is Starfleet's ambassador to Vulcan, and Worf is now a Klingon General. Nero is just a simple Romulan miner until something happens. As a result of that something, he gets seriously ticked off.

Anyway, the 4 issues have been collected into a graphic novel, which I just finished reading. I have to say that I'm impressed. It was pretty good. I'm even more jazzed to see the movie now.

To those of you who are looking forward to the movie, you might want to check it out.

To those of you who are not looking forward to the movie, never mind. There's nothing to see here. Move along, move along.

I am still trying to source them down here but after seeing the film you can still grasp it all with out the comics. But for those who like the back ground stuff , like me well they would be a must.

I read these as they came out as individual issues. The story is really cool and ties the new Trek into the Next Gen timeline very effectively.

BTW...Did anyone else see the scene from the new movie during Fringe last night? That certainly made a lot of sense after reading the comics and not yet seeing the whole film.

Also, during Fringe, they threw the plot of the new Trek flick into the storyline via a delusional Clint Howard. Ha! Balok is the harbinger of doom on Fringe...haha!

Yeah, I saw that. Hilarious scene. A bit heavy handed, but hilarious none the less.
