View Full Version : RACE No. 1
It's time for a roll call for the 1st summer BRL race.
Storm Steel June 6th. Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
I'll be there 21.5 lipo.
As our local option class we will be running a single cell class, either 17.5 or 13.5 depending on which seems to suit the racers the best. We are racing Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, if anyone wants to get a practice in, and at that time we'll determine which motor will be the best and I will post it here.
Hope lots will attend, this is a very nice and racey facility.
The address is 6105 6th St. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52404. Hotels on 33rd St. are very close.
MIDWESTRC 05-05-2009, 05:36 PM Cody Erdmann 21.5
Dave Hilpert 21.5
Loyd Davis 21.5
I looked on mapquest about hotels, there are 2 Super8's and a Howard Johnsons on 33rd ave looks to be only 3 or so miles from the track. Rooms start at $64 a night.

21.5
What are you guys running for tires down there nowadays?
MIDWESTRC 05-06-2009, 08:45 AM Bob you have PM
The track has lost some grip over time, and we have had to go to softer tires, at the Koth last year I think most were on 3 pinks and a blue right front, nets on the right side, I personally run full split in the rear and half in the front. If it gets really hot, then three blues and a pink has worked in the past.
Bob Wright 05-06-2009, 01:26 PM 10-4, thanks guys hopefully I will have enough $ to make it down, I always have fun at SS, especially if there is some kid standing in the infield to put my car back on track everytime I exit turn 2.
SDL98 05-07-2009, 02:02 PM Guess what I was wondering is what time the qualifing will start, it says Sat night. And how much practice there will be on Sat if we don't want to come over Fri nite.
Steve since this is a new series, I'm not sure what the schedule is going to be. I'm sure it will depend on the number of racers that show up. The track should be open early Saturday and that should give plenty of time to practice.
I know that doesn't help much, but at this point in time that is the best I can do.
TeamGoodwrench 05-07-2009, 07:42 PM I'll be there -- 21.5 LiPo too.

Chris S 05-09-2009, 10:37 AM Maybe even 13.5 1 cell Chris??????????
Maybe...... Got to see how the car runs the first weekend. I'm not even thinking of running the M-town car at SS. She's up on blocks with a pillow and blanket right now. Going to see about running a LE at SS.

I was just curious with 4 qualifiers and no. of cars that it sounds like there could be, anyway tentative Steve Lawson 21.5 lipo
TLCNUM3 05-10-2009, 02:55 PM I know what ya mean Chris, my carpet car is up on blocks, with a blanket & pillow and check in on it every night. (My wife doesn't even get that much attention) Glad to see you're going to try to make it Steve, I was wondering where you been. Terry

Don't you worry about Steve, he's been dirt racing. I'd worry about those other monkey's that live down around you and sometimes tag along with you:)
Bob Wright 05-12-2009, 08:14 PM Steve since this is a new series, I'm not sure what the schedule is going to be. I'm sure it will depend on the number of racers that show up. The track should be open early Saturday and that should give plenty of time to practice.
I know that doesn't help much, but at this point in time that is the best I can do.
Any practice on Friday? 1 day show all on Saturday or 2 day Saturday/ Sunday show.
Trying to figure out how many nites at the hotel.
MIDWESTRC 05-12-2009, 08:50 PM Coming down on Friday afternoon, will we be able to practice?
I will have the gates open Friday Afternoon for all those wanting to practice.
It will be a Saturday show only.
It is difficult to publish a schedule when we really don't know how many people are planning on attending.
Hays, has some things that he want to do, we'll just have to see.
I'm guessing that we should start qualifying at !:00 P.M. and just see how it goes.
If Hays has a schedule in mind I haven't heard, except a special lap race.
Thanks for the interest, any other questions let me know.
speedpunk 05-13-2009, 12:26 AM Mike Lafferty 21.5

I'll believe it when I hear you, or see you, whatever comes first. I just figured I would here the laugh as you turned into the parking lot. Good to hopefully have you guys down. Hays (Mini Beer) told you about the grass in the infield, right? Remember, you can't drive through it, just into it.

That's good. Stop by and pick up anyone else you can think of. You have the trailer so there is plenty of room. Just strap everyone to their stuff and then strap them in the trailer.
