Hallmark has the 2009 Ornaments now on their web site:
http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/article|10001|10051|/HallmarkSite/KeepsakeOrnaments/KO_KEEPSAKEORNAMENTTP

I am impressed they reduced the number of Star Trek ornaments down to 3 this year and Star Wars is down to 4. I still only plan to get the Klingon Battle Crusier.

Although, is it just me or would it make more sense if Hallmark would have released the Abram-prise this year instead of the KBC?

I must admit a bit of nostalgia - Robby the Robot and Twilight Zone ornaments.

"The Menagarie" scene w/Kirk, Pike, Spock: http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product|10001|10051|940935|215589;274069|null|P1R4 SO|stores

I see they label the KBC as "Subzero Serenade". Is that to mean that this is the K't'inga-class IKS T'Ong cryogenic ship from TNG?

Zoom in on the pic of the KBC and it definitly is a K't'inga class, looks pretty beat up.

The detailing looks sweet on it. I just wish we could see what lights up on it. The angle in the 2009 Hallmark Dreambook is 3/4 top front side.

There is also an Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark ornament with the Idol from the beginning of the movie. It plays the Raiders March.

Go to the KBP page (http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product%7C10001%7C10051%7C940933%7C215589;221071;2 21110%7Cnull%7CP1R4SO%7Cstores) and click on video.

You might be disappointed with the lights. The engine rear lights up red but so does the panel on the front of the main engine housing. Don't remember it doing that.

Torpedo launch was more than I hoped for. I'm getting this.

I'm saddened by the reduction in range, and that dioramas beat ships in this selection. They should have finished out the primary Starfleet ship classes before they start with the new alternate film timeline stuff which I bet we'll see in '10.

I hope Lynn gets around to the Farragut or Phoenix. A Nebula would be great. An Excelsior and Ambassador Enterprise B/C would be nice as well, but the odds are less that we'll get them anytime soon with the new film.

I can't see the video until next week - Internet is down at home and work does not have flash installed.

Sounds like I will be as disappointed with the lighting as I was with the Reliant last year. The took the easy way out. Adding just a little extra work and they could have lit the windows and other details with one or two more leds and maybe a strand or two of fiber optic.

I edited this paragraph
About half of the "flag ships" have been out within a year of their appearance on either tv or in the theater. Which is why I suggested the Abram-prise.
1991 - TOS Enterprise
1992 - Galileo Shuttlecraft
1993 - Enterprise D
1994 - Klingon Bird of Prey
1995 - Romulan Warbird
1995 - Mini set - TOS Enterprise, Enterprise D, and Klingon Bird of Prey
1996 - Diecast TOS Enterprise and Shuttlecraft
1996 - Voyager
1997 - Defiant
1998 - Enterprise E
1999 - Runabout Rio Grande
2000 - Borg Cube
2001 - Deep Space Nine
2002 - Delta Flyer
2002 - NX-01
2003 - Scorpion
2004 - Vulcan Command Ship
2005 - Enterprise A
2006 - TOS Enterprise
2007 - AGT Enterprise D
2008 - Reliant
2009 - Klingon K'Tinga Battle Cruiser

That is 22 ornaments (24 if you count all 3 of the little ones) in 19 years

Anything prior to DS9 doesn't count since the ornaments started in 1991.

DS9 premiered in 1993, the Defiant premiered in 1994

Voyager premiered in 1995 and the Delta Flyer was 1998

Inserection - 1998

Enterprise - premiered 2001

Like I said in another thread, the fact Playmates got a film license alone probably means that one needs to be negotiated for the ornaments too. I'm sure that played a part in why there are no film versions this year.

Also, to view ornament video, take this url and swap out the ornament catalogue number to see another ornament video:
http://www.hallmark.com/wcsstore/HallmarkStore/video/QXI1185.flv

Same with the zoomable image:

EDIT: Oh, and in case anyone can't play FLV's, use VLC from www.videolan.org (Great player for everything, now including Real too)

A lot of companies are blocking flash players and they prevent people from installing on their work machines. As I stated in my previous thread I can not view it until the internet is restored at my home hopefully on Sunday.

Many companies negotiate exclusive contracts when they are manufacturing items from a particular license. Example - the Star Trek models were made by Ertl, but Monogram had exclusive rights to do Voyager. Galoob had the rights to do micro machines, but they could not do any "play sets" to to go with them since Playmates license to do figures and play sets. I had contact with one of Galoob's executives years ago and had suggested several play sets and display cases for the ships and she told me they couldn't even consider it because of the license. I would not be surprised to learn that Hallmark has an exclusive license for the ornaments.

No, I understand you. I wasn't posting that info for you to stream it as from the site. I thought you might be able to right-click and save it, then use a player as a work-around.

I never meant to imply that I thought Hallmark wouldn't get a film license, just that their current one may not encompass the current film as well. The fact this distinction occurred with Playmates versus Diamond may indicate that it might be necessary to negotiate that one separately.

I like Robby and the Land Speeder. Not much selection as in years past.

Yeah, you'd think they would have expanded the line this year, even if they didn't have the rights to the film yet.

Hallmark has revealed their 2009 Keepsake Ornament lineup. Featuring characters like Ben 10, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman and Christmas favorites like National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and A Nightmare Before Christmas.

I’ve grabbed a few of my favorites below. I’m glad to see Spider-Man added as the Comic Book ornament this year. It is the second in a series that features a superhero (last year was Superman) and a small, readable comic.

Another note from several Hallmark store managers: Hallmark is not making as many of each ornament as they did in years past. So all of this years ornaments will be limited. One of the stores in my area told me some of the Star Trek ornaments they will only be getting 3 or 4 of and that is it. Stores will not be able to order additional shipments of the ornaments. It sounds like they are trying to help thier stores by not creating a ton of left over ornaments that they will take a loss on after Christmas.

...clever of them, I'd always buy mine after Christmas for 1/2 off.

I picked up the K't'inga last night after getting a call it was in. I had it and Robbie on a wish list with Hallmark. Robbie won't arrive 'til August the girl at the register said.
The K't'inga is pretty nice and shows an incredible amount of detail for its size, much more than the AMT model I have at home. 3 watch batteries came with it. A button on top of the engineering hull lights up the red impusle engines, the "intake grill" and the photorp tube on the command pod. All in all, I'm quite pleased with it although I may end up cutting off the eyehook at some point. My only other criticism is the lack of a display stand; you'd think for 30 bucks they could have included one.

1 Klingon Battle Cruiser
1 The Menagerie

I received the Ecto-1 as a Christmas present, it's currently sitting in the display case with my 1/24 Ecto:

I also managed to snag the last Robby the store had the day after Christmas.
