View Full Version : Cartrix Mercedes Missing First Gear?

Just picked up my second Cartrix car and am looking forward to some good close racing. This car is the very handsome Mercedes and, like all of you, I quickly discovered that weight needed to be added to the nose to keep the guide in the slot which I've already done.

My problem, though (and this was the case before and after adding weight), the car doesn't respond to just slight squeezes of the trigger like the other Cartrix car. Indeed, I can only go through most turns giving the trigger sort of the on/off/on-again approach. I'm using the standard wall wart power pack. My other Cartrix car, though a little loud and clattery, has nice even power through the entire range.

Has anyone else experienced this with this car? Is it fixable? Does it need to be exchanged (bought it new off eBay so would like to try to get this working right instead of going through an exchange). Thanks.

Sounds like the car is a little tight? Have you checked the gear mesh ? Is ther anything binding /rubbing anywhere? Some sanding and/or some lube of your preference might be helpfull here.

No, it's electrical. The wheels roll freely and there's no grinding or anything. Lifting the rear car up and applying the power very gently it goes from zero to a middling speed instantly; there is no slow.

Yes my one is the same,to get any better control, you'd need to change the motor for one known to be smoother, could also try different ohmage controller if available.
