I talked to Terry last night and it seemed liek it was a problem to move two pipes to run oval. I guess I am building a World GT car.

That whole place has such potential but no one takes any ambition to do anything it seems The place is always dirty and looks like a hurricane just went through. Its a shame lot of potential there just needs some direction.

What seems to be the problem? they had one of the best carpet tracks around and the original dirt track was awesome never had a chance to run on the new one. I hope they get something going

drive and a hobby shop that does not need racers to survive

As Alan said its the fact that Trains is supported by things other then RC Cars and the fact that Jeff has been burnt so many times by racers. They told him build a dirt oval people will come. Haha What a joke that was.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for oval racing at T&L I even have a car ready to go if there is a race there.

In TC theres a core group of guys that come every week, buy stuff from the store and have been doing so for a long time.

As far as the potential the store has it's huge and everyone knows that. It could have a very nice carpet track upstairs and draw big crowds in oval and TC but trying to tell him that doesn't seem to help. I honestly think we could put in a decent track on the open side of the upstairs and use the batting cage side for pits but there's only one way that happening and thats if a bunch of racers get together and shell out some money for carpet along with giving up sometime on the weekends to build it.

Hello, all. It's nice to see we can have a freindly educated discussion about oval racing on the asphalt track. I was awaiting hearing weather the oval racers would respond to my challange to round up enough weekly racer to make it worth planning any oval at Trains and Lanes. For those that need to brought up to speed, check the RCTech thread. http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-forum/231441-trains-lanes-onroad-racing-summer-08-edition.html

TRAINS AND LANES HOBBIES 09 ONROAD RACING Continuing into the future.

NEW REVISED STARTING TIME OF 2 pm FOR THE 2009 SEASON

Opening day is April 4th 2009
http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-forum/231441-trains-lanes-onroad-racing-summer-08-edition.html maybe that explains why the oval racers did not reply?

It's in the Racing Forum.

terry this is what you call a challenge for the oval guys?"Well, just so you know, there did seem to be some interest in racing oval on the asphalt, but as usual, a few select a$ racers will ruin it for everyone else. When I put out the challenge for the oval community to give a staight answer as to weather they had an interest, as usual, they sat on their hands and kept their mouth shut. Now that we have set up a very involved onroad layout that would in no way be easy to change over, they are flapping their gums like there is no tomorrow. Since they seem to refuse to post anything in a place that RACERS look, here is where you can find the BS. Have a good laugh, as I did."

Terry http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-f...8-edition.html last page

This post doesn't even make any sense. Are you painting tonight? You better open a window the fumes are gettin to ya

For those whom think it will be very easy to change the layout, here are the pics. http://www.rctech.net/forum/5694640-post90.html

As you can see, the outer banked lanes are only about 8 feet wide. If you guys are happy with that, then I guess it would be VERY easy to change.

Anyway, if you want to race pancar, the World GT is a fun class. 2s 17.5 or 1s 10.5 and hang on for a ride.

if you dont realize that oval racers come on here and not on rctech then you might be a bit slow. just like onroad guys go on rctech. and just like dirtoval guys go to dirtoval.com. hmm you sure are a headscratcher.....

i bet lots of guys want to race oval at trains this summer! but obviously putting up a challenge for oval racers to speek up on a site that oval racers rarely go to is not the best way to ask.

Then I guess you are fine with 8 foot wide lanes? It would be a done deal then, and easy to change

Yes. This was talked about a little lastnight amongst both oval and road racers. Since the track it bolted together now it may be a bit more difficult than originally thought, so it's not quite like last year.

However since there doesn't seem to be an offroad program perhaps Sunday has been looked at???

terry, i go on hobbytalk 2-3 times a day and not once did i see anything for oval racing at trains and lanes. why wouldnt we want to race on a great surface like that track. over the years i have put my fair share into working on this track and many of the others there. it is nice to finally see the hobbyshop guys show an intrest in this track because it seems it finally stays clean!!!! that was our biggest issue. another issue was when people would call the shop anyone who picked the phone could not tell them whe we were racing and didnt care!!
if you are the track spokesperson you should not be on RC tech saying "you want a good laugh" it makes you seem like ........

getting a weekly showing for oval i dont think it would ever work by 1 or 2 times a month wouldve worked out pretty nice i think.

so a quick recap incase you think i am painting or drinking (well i was drinking but i am fine) Most oval racers have never heard of rc tech

what i cant figure out is why would a track turn racers away, most track would love to have that money from each entry i wonder if jeff knows he is loosing money since he is actually an oval guy?the season did not even start yet and the oval guys have been asking me for almost a month and i told them to call the store.i looked all over rc tech and i can not find 1 topic labeled oval or an oval forum.does it even exist on rc tech? just question. because if there is NOT then how do you expect to hear from an oval guy? i dont know but would like to race 5 minutes from my house instead of driving hours.all the promoting the track during the winter to get oval guys to come to one of the best asphalt track seems to have been a waist of our time i guess. maybe 1 day it will allow oval guys at trains and lanes again where the oval guys started racing there.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the track the one time I was actually able to run, but who really cares anyway. They couldn't even get a schedule straight last year. Just bail and head on over to Jackson (http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=237307) and note the following:

They have already posted a schedule which they stick with
Have seemed to figure out how to take a track apart to accomodate multiple classes
Have an awesome group of people running the track who are more than happy to work with the racers
If people bug them enough, they will spray the track just to get more racers to attend.

As your buddy Terry would say "you must be sniffing to much paint" lol i would be there alot actually. its the same time to get there for me as it is to get to marshalls. just like its the same time to get to the strand for me. id be to all 3 tracks as much as possible. but yes i would probly Be at marshalls a bit more cause i consider it to be my home track. i think the turning right might be turning your brain into mush! lol seeya at Marshalls on July 18th for there carpet race! :)
