Again noting that I mostly build figures, I hope this isn't too basic a question. Is there any reason that the Seaview can't be built without cementing the front window panel in place so that it could be removed to view the interior--kind of like the hood of a model car? Thanks for any help.

No reason at all. If you want to leave that nose cap loose on your Seaview it works for me..

Thanks, Dave. I'm going to try to rig up an LED to light the interior. I don't think I'm ready to try one of the fancy lighting kits yet. But in the event I don't get the light to work, I'm going capless! Thanks again. Great board.

Actually, I was thinking of leaving the "windshield" glass out completely.

Wouldn't it sink fast while playing in the tub? :)

I think he's talking about the whole wedge-shaped plastic piece not just the clear windows. Would make the sub look like it had a lobotomy IMO.

I saw one in a Hobbyshop that was on display and the sub had the window nose with the small seam showing & it didn't look that bad at all. I thought with everyone puttying the seam, it would stand out more. How bad of a distortion is there with the kit window in place ?

Well, being pretty much a rookie when it comes to sci-fi vehicles, I don't think it looks bad at all with the cap laid in without cement and the "seams" showing. And you can slip it off to view the interior or show it off to friends. But that's one person's opinion and I'm not as hypercritical as some. I'm not one to debate the exact shading of the Seaview's underside in season 2, episode 3, the precise tint of yellow for the Flying Sub as it leaves the docking bay, etc. Not that I don't admire that sort of thing....big fan of all the work shown here and wish I could do as well.

welcome to HT Pf Flyer I agree with you, as long as it looks right to the model builder and it is not being entered into a show that has exacting standards ,thats all that counts. Build it as it pleases you I always say.

If you want to see what it would look like without filling the seams around the nose, check out this video of what looks like a totally out of box Seaview, except for the lights:
