Go down on the pinion gear a tooth or two. You'd be surprised at the difference a tooth or two can make? Becareful going to one extreme or the other in one shot. You can over or under gear and start having thermalling issues with your ESC. It can over heat and shut down for its own safety.

Try a 15t pinion gear and if it thermals or the esc/motor are getting too hot to touch after about 5 minutes of running put a larger spur gear on it assuming you probably have an 84t spur right now switch it out for an 87t. This should at least be a gooding starting place for you.
