There are 2 types of soldering irons - hot and cold. Rule #1 - always keep the hot one away from plastic, it melts.

Wiring LEDs is no problem with either type of iron. You just have to decide if you are going to do it in series or parallel. Kits such as this one or the other one listed in this forum tell you how to do it. You can also wrap the wire around the led metal leads and test it before soldering.

All leds have a positive and a negative side. They will not work if you try to wire them incorrectly.

The positive side of a LED (Light Emitting Diode) has a flat side, as if you are looking down from the tip of the LED and the D is what you see at the base/lip. Don't forget you will need a resistor on the pos lead, depends on the size/voltage going thru it. Mine already came with the right parts for 3 volts and i don't know what the colors of the bands stand for on the resistors.

There is a Resistor Calculator here if it is any good to you

Actually, the flat spot at the base of a led is usually the negative lead. Also, when the two leads are not the same length, the shorter one is usually the negative one.

My bad, I just got back from the electronics store and on the back of the card are the instructions and you are correct, negative '-' is on the flat side of the LED.

I found two more Calculators through:
The LED Circuitry Turorial http://www.theledlight.com/ledcircuits.html
And from it found:

Is the Iron Man lighting kit still available from Voodoo? I don't see it on their website.

I was told by VooDoo that no they are not. He could get the parts together with the basic instructions for I think he said $25 + 10 shipping.
