A blast from the past! The NSU Ro80 was a technologically-advanced sedan made from 1967-77 with a Wankel engine. Here are two contemporary 1/43 diecasts of it. One Danish (blue) - one German (red). ;)

NSU was bought by Volkswagen in 1969 and folded into AUDI...

Saw one of these in a field out back of a auto shop.
Probably the only one ever in Maine!

This one was incredibly advanced design for the late 60s. It still does look modern even today.

In addition to the Tekno & Marklin, there were contemporary releases of the 1/43 scale Ro80 by UK Dinky & Gama and a relatively recent quality one from PMA Minichamps.

The Dinky must be the one produced in the greatest volume although I dont have any 1/43 castings of this iconic car - when they were new in 1969 our family doctor bought one brand new in orange which he traded in for a new white Rover P6 V8 with the spare tyre mounted on the trunk in the same style as the Corgi golden jacks toy
