I noticed that the street version of the C6 Vette has a detailed chassis while the C6R Vette has a flat base. Does the real car have a flat undercarriage or is there another reason?

Well, I'm not Greenlight, but I can tell you that the racing version (C6R) indeed does have a flat bottom while the street version does not. So GL nailed this one right on the money!

I do HATE that they went to the trouble to sculpt the racing version so well, even with a flat bottom, but stuck gosh aweful ugly wheels with 6" rubber!!!! Come on guys, at the time you released these, you were putting 12" tires on street cars, but gave the race car TREADED 6" street tires!! LOL!

But you know I own every one of them (several of each even) so what do I know!

The C6.Rs have a flat base - both in real life and in GreenLight 1:64 scale die-cast! Speaking of C6.Rs, check out this nasty looking machine.

This C6.R will be available in Factory 2-Pack Series 3 (1:64 Corvette Racing 2-Pack: 1968 Corvette L-88 Hardtop & 2008 Corvette C6.R) at Kmart, Meijer and through Hobby Stores/OLDs. The car is also being released in a single clamshell to hobby and trackside vendors (Item #18626 - 1:64 2008 Corvette C6.R GT-1 - Yellow/Black)! The first time we issued single clamshell C6.Rs we were sold out on arrival, so get them while they're available!

RJH, that will be a gotta have, luv to collect the racing 'vettes, and Greenlight is doing a nice job. When should I start looking. Toys R Us/Target carries Greenlight any chance these will abe there too or is this an exclusive.

You guys should check out the CR6 LeMans/Daytona done by GMP in 1/64.. truly remarkable ... WAY BETTER than the the GL one. Opening doors, removable hood, perfectly proportioned....

Here is an ebay sale:

Sheldon, seriousley....is everyone else's cars "way" better then Greenlight? I agree, this is a rare and wonderful casting (I have several myself) but give the guys at GL a little love, they still make great cars!

For $20, the GMP better be WAY BETTER than $4 GL.

GG: Originally, these sold for $10.

However, cost is NOT always an issue. there have been many $4 cars better than $10 cars....

69STANG:
I think GLs are better than MOST JLs, but GL promised to fix the wheels more than a year ago and they STILL HAVE NOT.

I just do NOT understand this blind loyalty... I have some GLs, but they are simply inferior to similar priced castings from other vendors like SC and M2... THAT SIMPLE.

M2 has had it's share of oversized cars and QC issues.

Wannafbody:

I agree about some scale issues with M2. Their Mustang casting is WAY too big, as is the case with the Olds 442, and stretch 32. Other than that, the detail is good and the proportions are decent.

As for quality, I NEVER said that M2 has less flaws than GL (despite M2 having nearly double the parts than any GL), just more detailed and in general better proportioned.
