Steve244 04-22-2009, 07:02 PM Nice! Now where are the teeny bikini babes?
falcon49xxxx 04-22-2009, 07:14 PM I have been working on a self contained lighting rig for the little sub.I just need to work out some of the details.alex
steve123 04-22-2009, 07:36 PM This lighting kit is all Randy's at VoodooFX..(the guys who know me know....lol)
Falcon, very nice work, looks really cool!
I saved two sitting guys fron the control room, We can tart'em up a bit...lol
Steve
falcon49xxxx 04-22-2009, 09:03 PM Thanks,the on-off switch will be the arresting hook.One tap on-one tap off.
steve123 04-22-2009, 09:37 PM Now that's cool! A little momentary switch?
Steve
falcon49xxxx 04-22-2009, 10:02 PM no,it is actually an on and off switch.
steve123 04-23-2009, 03:29 PM ok, here's what I have now. The engine bulkhead is drilled out and I made two little "+" thingies (flame holders?) to fit in the exhaust ports.

Steve244 04-23-2009, 09:02 PM Helps to throw in a dime or something to give people a sense of scale on this stuff!
Or say "shown larger than actual size."
steve123 04-23-2009, 10:53 PM I know,..I'm so used to working with this kit I forget we need visual aids sometimes.
I'll re-shoot in the morning along with the rest of the progress..

jwrjr 04-23-2009, 11:37 PM To be sure, you can't beat a ruler, or something like a coin for a size reference. But that led you see in the foreground is 5mm (0.2") across.
steve123 04-24-2009, 03:24 PM here it is as of this morning.

added bracket thingy.
steve123 04-24-2009, 07:37 PM Thanks Steve!...yikes,,,,
new pics soon I've got the spots figured out...
AJ-1701 04-25-2009, 06:55 AM I wish I'd thought about lighting the engines when I did mine... Thats a nice little board Randy has done there Steve. How does it work with any interior??
For mine I just used 2 x 2mm super white leds and some foil which did the spots and threw enough ambiant light around to show off the interior.

steve123 04-25-2009, 11:31 AM I always love looking at your sub! Amazing work!
The way the board is set up it needs a simple backdrop interior, either directly in front of the windows ala Stuntman's or behind the two seats.
The way i'm having to run fiberoptic to the front spots, I'mgoing to put a diffuser behind the windows (bright light out the spots and a dimmer light out the windows)
Here's a test shot of the engines..opps looks like I got the little "+" doohickeys a little off center..

steve123 04-25-2009, 02:10 PM I'm still playing around with different things to put behind the windows.
Early test shot, but I have wanted to see this on my shelf since I heard Moebius was bringing out this kit!

AJ-1701 04-25-2009, 09:01 PM Thanks Steve :)I like looking at it too:p
The red in the engines just looks magic... Excuse me now while I butt-kick myself for not thinking of that...
steve123 04-25-2009, 09:17 PM That was all Randy's idea. You have so much going on in there would there even be any way to do it?
I'll trade...lol
How many hours did you spend tweaking her together?

He's a clever lad is Randy... It was a bit crowded in there:p But looking at it now I could have drilled out the vents used red/orange coloured krystal klear and the pieces out of Pauls little pe set that I tossed aside and used the back wash lighting.
From memory I think it was about 6-8 hours total with prep, paint interior and lighting. As one of my staff told me in his seniors fatherly way, "don't over think things" Like that'll ever happen.
But enough of mine... How is yours progressing???
Cheers,
Alec.
steve123 04-26-2009, 08:29 AM I'm going to wet sand and re-shoot the yellow. The outer surface has taken a bit of a beating. I wish I'd have painted the light block way back in Dec...
I'm also pondering drilling out the front spots. I'd like a little more light out of them. The molded in guards kind of scatter the light.
You could still retrofit the engines...I used a pin vice and a micro drill to start the holes and finished with a grinding bit in the dremel.
All from the outside.

Steve244 04-30-2009, 11:02 AM seaview might take a dive from the railing. that gives me the willies. zoom zoom.
Just the single white backlight on the little sub is effective. Maybe dim it a bit through the windshield. hard to say though, the camera may be changing the effect.
steve123 04-30-2009, 11:54 AM I agree, I have a few layers of diffuser in front of the windows but it needs more.
The Seaview weighs a ton all lights and batts are inside, so she is pretty stable.
