View Full Version : Is Herbie All Gone

I flit in and out of the hobby over time. Well during one of my distracted periods, Dash came out with this great Herbie bug and by the time I got plugged back in it was all gone. I can find them on eBay, and even a couple of other sellers, but always at a price of about $30 which seems a little rich for a TJ.

Does anyone know of a better resource for them?

Has anyone tried buying one of the newer AW bugs, painting it white, and going the decal route?

As always, any insights are appreciated.

The Hutt Location Service has found a Herbie VW Bug at Ken's Classic Slot Cars. His prices ($14) are not the lowest around but it is not a fleecing either.

Hope his e-inventory is correct.

Jag Hobbies may also have the Herbie bug.

Check with Lucky Bob's in Milwaukee or Tom Stumpf here on Hobbytalk.

JAG and Lucky Bob's are both out per their web sites. That's why I resorted to searching Ken's Classics web site. That is never my first choice cause Hutts are frugal (a nice word for cheap). However, Tom is a good choice; I am a silly Hutt for forgetting him. You can reach him at tomhocars using HT PM or Tomhocars@aol.com using email.

Chris the T-Jet Racer (HT handle) may have some but I seem to remember that he was focusing on his calling to be the World's Renown Auto World Dismantler. A PM is free though...

Thanks, everyone. I tried Tomhocars last night and he's out, too. I looked at Ken Classics last night and $14 for the body isn't too bad, but he charges $7.40 for shipping which seems a little out of line. And by the time I purchase a chassis . . .

I guess I'll need my own frugal side to swallow hard and just do it.

Jag has them. Shipping is always reasonable when I order from him.

Some major Dean Jones fan must have bought up all of the available Herbies to build their sick, twisted shirne of mvie star worship. It actually hurt my fingers to type that...:freak::freak::freak::freak:

You have fingers?

Not what you would call fingers, no. But the Hutt word for them is really impossible for humans to pronounce so I just use your human word, fingers.

That was a good catch, by the way. :jest::lol:

I just want to publically acknowledge slotcarman's coolness. Herbie arrived today safe and sound and I (and my boys) are delighted. Thanks again for your generous offer!

I got a Herbie Ghia myself, and I'm not a VW fan by any stretch. In fact the VW guys got laughed at a lot when I was "into" street rods in the early 80's. Blame it on watching the Goodwood renuion races in HD. That looks like some serious fun.

I have a Herbie ghia also, thanks to Bob...insane resin caster...Zilla that I will never part with.. simply because he gave it to me. Nothing special about it except the source. I will get it mounted up soon and stick it in the case with the other 2 ghias he sent me.. Thanks Bob!!!:thumbsup:
