Paved oval track now under renovation at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis Indiana. This track will feature a 258 ft x 180 ft. paved oval, an infield dirt oval, and the track is wide enough to set up an on-road course on the paved oval.
If anybody would like to help out it would be appreciated. Go to our website at rcarassociation.org. We hope to have some racing by the end of May or first of june.
We will run these classes:
-1/10 electric and nitro touring cars
-1/10 indy cars
-1/8th GTP cars
-1/8th open class (serpent, evolvas etc)
-1/10 scale sliders on dirt oval
-stadium trucks (slayer/slash etc) on dirt oval
-1/4 scale nascars and nastrucks
-1/4 scale sprint cars on dirt oval

This place will be awesome when it's done.

Sounds awesome! What will happen to it during the fair? Will you have races during the Marion county fair? That would be a good way to promote our sport/ hobby, if we could have some races at fairtime.

We will run any class (on-road and off-road) as long as there are enough entrants to hold a race.

Our hours will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-9:00 and Saturdays all day.

We are currently talking to Hobby R/C which is very close to the track (approx 5min.) about supplying the needed parts. In the future we may have a large retail trailer on-site.

By the way, does anybody know anyone that does asphalt sealcoating that would be willing to lend us a hand in exchange for some advertising at the track?

We like the AMB system, but they are expensive and used ones are hard to find.
We were thinking of I-laps. Any knowledge of that system?

If its infared system, they dont work very well out doors at all.

Thanks for the info. It looks like AMB is the best way to go.

I agree. I know they are expensive, but they are really the only way to go. I recommend getting a newer system that accepts personal transponders too. This is the way things are going....plus it saves a ton of headaches!!

I will be out there for a short time Fri afternoon to oversee the placement of the dirt for the inner track. We are still working through some sponsorships for the outside wall and the refurb on the timing and scoring tower. This Saturday I will be out and about collecting materials for the refurb. so I probably won't be at the track for an extended period.

I know everyone is anxious to get racing, but the constant rain has delayed our progess a little. New pictures will be posted this week.

We are in the process of working with several sponsors to help us make this a great track.

When is the Marion County Fair? Will there be races scheduled for fair time? It would be an excellent opportunity to showcase our sport! I have a 1/8 scale latemodel dirt oval car and a 1/10 scale Nitro EDM (east coast dirt modified) oval car ready to race.

Unfortuntely, we will not be racing at this years fair because of the fair boards previous contract to run go-karts on our track. However, we will race during all subsequent fairs and swap meets. The fair board did say that we may be able to race off-road somewhere on the premises during the fair. All banners sponsorships will remain posted during the fair so any sponsors out there - this is a great opportunity to get some advertising for cheap!. Visit our new website at rcarassociation.org

We are making progress on the track! We had some final grading done on the dirt track but some areas were still to wet. Also, renovating the pagoda (scoring tower) is going very well as we are just about ready for paint. As soon as the paved oval is sealcoated the new outer walls will be installed and the huge drivers stand with pits underneath will be assembled and installed. Since it is an outdoor track weather plays a big part in our plans, but hopefully, the dirt track will be open for practice and driver feedback in a week or two.
Visit our website at rcarassociation.org often for updates as we will be having a survey next week on the website so that we can make sure that we are going to meet your needs.

Thanks for so much interest!!

Hey guys Was just over at the Marion Co Rc website and they are moving things right along, and have update news on the front page of the website as well as new pictures of the progress, some of you dirt oval racers might get on this thread and help them decide on banking and the size and shape of the oval,i think thyewould love some opinions from people on here.
My opinion is make it a decent banked track, you can actually bank the track into the ground instead of building up the bank turns,so its kind down into the ground.
But come on guys lets hear some suggestions, the quicker they know what to make, the quicker we can get sliding sideways,LOL.

Just a word on track banking. The most that the track could be banked is about 5 degrees because the infield of the track can't be lower than the drain that is in the middle of the infield. Don't worry we still want everyones opinion because we want the track to be the best in the state.
