I understand there are two different versions of the stock rims and tires that came on the Slash. What's the difference and how can you tell the two apart? Different part numbers?

the older version is the 2.2 rims inside and outside , the newer version has 3.0(2.8 maybe) inside and 2.2 outside on rim and tire. i would assume that the traxxas number would be for the newer style rims and tires ,

The newer style have an "a" at the end of the part number.

We have some Slashes with both new and old version tires. The jury is still out on that. Some say they are slightly better, some say they handle the same. So who knows. I guess we will all find out eventually. The older version will no longer be available once supplies run out. The new ones come on the Slayer. So I guess Traxxas doesnt want to spend money on too many different styles of rims/tires. Good cost conservation idea...............I guess?

Seems like the old style would have more cushion, as they are a normal tire... they had to cut the inside of the tire and widen the rim to get it to fit on the Slayer.. Not sure why they would stop producing the normal tires for the Slash... the Slayer ones with the wide-open inner rim look like a toy when they're mounted on the slash... booooo....
