I'm old ....I was little when Sean Connery was Bond.

He was my hero then, I liked Tim dalton, But I really came to enjoy, what Pierce Brossnan Brought to the role.
Die another day might be my favorite.
I needed to add Roger Moore and George Lazenby.

I thought the "campy" Moore Bonds a little over the top, But I like Roger Moore. and Lazenby...well, he could have been a contender.

I'm trying to like Daniel Craig, sorry, but he looks to me like he works for SPECTER

Thoughts?

Ditto, Sean Connery hands down was my favorite. I also think the Bond girls of the 60's were the best too.

I think George Lazenby made the best replacement for the Bond character and it was a shame he bowed out of the series after making only one movie.

1.Connery-Set the tone for the character. Witty yet lethal when needed.
2.Craig-In every sense an 'agent'. Intelligent, dangerous and no nonsense.
3.Lazenby-One outing, but spectacular. It's not quantity, but quality.
4.Brosnan-Started undoing the slapstick of Moore, but became increasingly implausible.
5.Moore-Some great moments, some completely slapstick and awful moments also.
6.Dalton-Great LOOKING Bond. Not much else. Dry.

Roger Moore, then Sean Connery. Roger was the first I saw in the theater, in Moonraker.

Connery, fo'shizzle

Brosnan

Jury's still out on Craig. Didn't help matters in Casino Royale when the bartender asked him, "shaken or stirred?" and he said, "do I look like I care?" Very un-Bond-like.

Considering that Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace is how Bond came to be Bond, that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Connery, but, Craig is pulling a fast second and moving closer.

Connery.

And I think Craig in fantastic, but I do wish the producers would allow the character a touch more charm. Last time out Bond had veered a bit too sharply into "brutal thug" territory for my tastes.

Connery
Craig
Lazenby

... in that order. Totally lost interest in the franchise once Moore took over and didn't get interested again until Craig revitalised it. The three named above are the only ones I've ever believed as James Bond. And Connery still owns it.

Connery created the role for the screen (Barry Nelson notwithstanding), so there's something of his portrayal in all the others. However, the one I most enjoyed watching was Brosnan. There were a lot of subtle touches he brought to the role that I thought made a lot of sense for the character.

I really like Craig, but I kind of separate him from all the others because the role is written so differently for him.

As an aside, I totally see Daniel Craig as Roland Deschain when Abrams and Lindelof get around to casting The Dark Tower.

And you're right about the women.

I'm, old to, so, Connery.

But I think Dalton was excellent - or would have been if they'd ever written a script just for him.

Brosnan could have been the ultimate, perfect Bond, but again, he was handed terrible scripts and inane special effects fests that seemed to be leftovers from the Moore era. Although I think GoldenEye was a fantasic film on all levels, and probably Brosnan's best outing.

Still getting used to Craig, but he's doing fine.

Brosnan was defeated by bad movie making and scripts. He could have been the ultimate Bond, but, they really screwed the pooch with his movies. I thought Dalton was bland and uncharismatic. I've seen Dalton in other things and that's pretty much my impression of him.

I like 'em all! Some a little less so than others. Most of the Bond films are a real joy to sit thru and watch, tho Moonraker and one or two of the other Moore flicks make me cringe thru maybe half of each.

Connery had style & a sense of humor while still make me believe he was a cold blooded killer. He was just a bit rough around the edges, in some ways - and IMNSHO.

Lazenby had a lot of potential, but at the time I saw the movie I was in the "He's not BOND! Only Connery is BOND!" mindset. Looking back he would have been the better of the first three, IMNSHO. Or at least, better than Mooore.

Moore's Bond was campy, yet still entertaining.

Dalton was great in his second movie as Bond, IMNSHO. How he was in License to Kill is what I always imagined that Bond was like Off The Chain.

Brosnan, to me, is almost the definitive Bond. He's got the overall charm, the perfect sense of humor and still comes across as a cold-blooded killer.

Craig... I like him, but at the same time he doesn't quite feel "right". At least, in the first movie. His second, however, was Bond out for revenge and that is what felt right to me thru-out most of the movie. Not so much in the first movie.

I liked him in License too, it's one of my favorite of the later Bond pictures after the Connery years. His first Bond movie where they were trying to make him monogamous was kind of a snooze fest.

I hated all the Moore movies with the exception of The Spy Who Loved Me, which was kind of entertaining, though more than a little cheesy.

Much as I liked Connery, I think the movies and his performances haven't dated well, especially the ones after From Russia with Love.

I thought Craig was really good in CR, arguably the best Bond ever. I didn't enjoy QoS that much, though it wasn't because Craig was bad, the movie was just kinda forgetable.

Oh, good topic....!!!

I've been enjoying the Bond movies immensely. I only started watching Bond with the early Moore movies. At that time, I hadn't seen any of the Connery ones (long story) and I think my first theatrical Bond movie was "Moonraker". Okay, maybe not a glowing recommendation, but so long as you suspend your disbelief a whole lot.... it's enjoyable for what it is. I can still watch it, but there is a part of me that goes "auuuggghhh!!" with different scenes.

I think my own personall Moore favourite is "For Your Eyes Only". The beautiful scenery, the beautiful girls and the intrigue that moves the action to vastly different climes. Yes, the Moore films got silly - but that's hardly the fault of Mr. Moore.

I thought Dalton to be a more action-oriented Bond and I still like "The Living Daylights" just a bit more than "Licence to Kill"!

I also really enjoyed Pierce Brosnan as Bond - in many ways, the penultimate Bond, IMO. "Goldeneye" is my personal favourite of Mr. Brosnan's films. I thought the way he was fired by the franchise producers was pretty low, though.

Now... haven't yet seen the Daniel Craig movies... but I will, someday.

I have NOT seen the George Lazenby movie. Hard to find, for some reason.

I haven't yet mentioned Sean Connery. I am almost embarrassed to admit this... but I haven't seen many of his Bond movies! In fact, I still only own two of his films... so even though I know that he is the archetypal Bond, I haven't seen enough to really get to know his depiction of the Bond character.

For Your Eyes Only was definitely one of Moore's best Bond films...if not his best IMO. I thought Brosnan really had some great moments as Bond and brought an awesome 'acting' element to the role. There were some really good moments in Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies-the motorcycle scene notwithstanding.

I really liked about the first half of Die Another Day and loved how it showed the consequences when a spy actually gets caught. After his release though I felt the story began to nosedive with invisible cars, fights in a laser room that even a Jedi couldn't navigate through and cheesy lines like 'Ya mama' from Halle Berry. Overall, all the Bond's have had their ups and downs.

Brosnan, played Bond perfectly, a sociopath. Charming, kill you at the drop of a hat and think nothing of it. Guess I'm alone here, I love The World is Not Enough, twists, turns, not a lot of over the top gadgets (any more than the early films). And that boat chase on the Thames has to be one of the best sequences ever.

As for Moore. Live and Let Die and The Man With the Golden Gun are campy? HUH? I'll admit The Spy Who Loved Me is the only later Moore film I made it through, but the first 2 are a couple of the best Bond movies made. To Andrea: He may use one of these little golden bullets on you, and that would be a shame, because they're very expensive.

Sean Connery.

Connery will always be Bond to me, no matter what actor is the current "flavor" Of the Month.

I have grown to appreciate Moore.
Brosnan was the worst(to me, any way).
Lazenby had the most potential to follow up Connery...

Oh, and my Favorite Bond Films are..

From Russia With Love
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Dr. No
Goldfinger
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice

And the Books are still 100% Better than any Film(IMHO)

David Niven! Followed by Peter Sellers.

Seriously, though, Moore was the first Bond I ever saw, so I have a soft spot for his Bond films. As corny as the last few were, I loved them as a child/pre-teen.

I remember the first time I found out that that Connery was the first Bond. I was like "What?!? Who's this guy? He's not James Bond!" Eventually, I grew to enjoy and respect the Connery Bond movies, but it did take a while.

Dalton's Bond films left me cold.

Brosnan got the shaft, as far as I'm concerned. I thought Goldeneye was a great movie and Brosnan was great as Bond. However, the writers didn't seem to know what to do with the character after that. Every movie after Goldeneye followed the same formula. Maniacal genius bent on destroying the world with some massive super weapon. Bond saves the day.

But, I got to say, I'm really digging the Craig Bond movies so far. I like the hard-nosed portrayal of the character. I also like how they writers are not being overly reliant on impossible to believe gadgets and exotic cars that pack more armor and weapons than a tank.

With the Moore films the company decided that they wanted to do a different kind of Bond film. Watch "For Your Eyes Only", or "The Wild Geese", Moore could be tough, and cold. The Brosnan films suffered from the company changing the tempo of the movies while at the same time trying not to.

I watched the "Casino Royal" remake, and thought it was an okay action movie, but not a Bond film. I didn't bother with the sequel. Craig is the only Bond I haven't liked so far, I think that he looks like he has bad indigestion when he is trying to look hard, or tough.

My favorite Bond? After watching "Ice Station Zebra" a few weeks ago, I have to say that it is the actor that turned the part down, Patrick McGoohan. Watch the movie, and tell me he wasn't playing Bond, and he was fantastic!
