I've wanted to do this modification since I first laid eyes on that DRAGSTRIP version of this beauty. I left the hood alone cuz I didn't want to mess with the stock look of the twin chrome strips and the "BUICK" tampo.
Ya know , I doesn't look bad . The hardtop is much more realistic looking than the 69' convertible

Hey Jim,
I swapped out the whole base with a second 69 I bought. I've had some luck yankin on the wheels ,but I've also screwed up a perfectly good rim in the past by burying my fingernnail into it trying to muscle it apart.

Go for it .. The tampos come off real nice..but this is the first time the paint under it was coming off as well in spots . I hope it was just mine...
