View Full Version : Hot Pursuit
Patrolman 04-18-2009, 01:01 AM It has been a while since I have posted on the Hobbytalk forums. With the demise of Johnny Lightning's 1/64 police line I really lost interest in the 1/64 scale hobby until now. GL thankyou for releasing a police car line in 1/64, from what I have seen it looks like being a great line for the police car collector. The AMC Javelin is one straight from left field and I love it. One of the most unique police cars ever used.
.
All the cars that have been announced are accurate, even the Indiana Galaxie, yes they used two door versions of this car.
.
Keep up the good work.
kevman 04-22-2009, 08:25 PM what are the cars that are in this series ?
Patrolman 04-22-2009, 09:10 PM Series 1 is due out around June. It contains the following,
1965 Ford Galaxie 500 Indiana State Police1971 AMC Javelin Alabama State Trooper 2006 Dodge Charger Dodge City Police 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Wayne County Ohio Sheriff Police2008 Ford Crown Victoria Arapahoe County Colorado Police 2008 Dodge Charger Ridley Township, Pennsylvania

Hmm..I wonder if they are going to tool up a '65 Ford 4dr sedan or just use their 2dr ht (wouldn't be realistic as a police car). Nice to see that Arapahoe County CV, from my old stomping grounds...

They aren't making a 4 door, and there were 2 doors that were used by the police.
Patrolman 04-23-2009, 12:22 AM Yep, Indiana SP did use the two door version.

A hardtop, though? I've seen pics of Ford Custom 2dr sedan police cars, but hardtops seem a bit unusual..
Patrolman 04-23-2009, 05:47 AM No, just a 2 door. Its close enough I guess, I remember the Racing Champions Line of cop cars where they used just about every two door soft top muscle car they had in their 1/64 collection as police cars. The RC line was just starting to take shape with their Caprice, Crown Vic and various SUV's when they pulled the plug on it. At least GL have two great police castings in the Crown Vic and Dodge Charger to build their series around.
Images of Hot Pursuit will be posted on HobbyTalk at the end of next week. From the feedback we've received so far, this set promises to be very popular among collectors!

bluehemi818 04-23-2009, 06:36 PM Man, I can't wait. I like to think I have every matchbox, racing champions, johnny lightning and greenlight police car released over the last 15 years, and it has been so slow the last 5 years or so. I have to say the JL american blue/ americas finest wtih rubber tires were some of my favorites. My all time favorite is the 74 monaco mt prospect pd they did. I really hope that this is a series that goes on for a very long time and continues to grow and add new castings specifically with po pos in mind. (Many different and period correct light bars as well)

Behind you 100 percent. The short lived JL police line was the best one by far. Thats why the GL line is so exciting, they seem to be very similar on face value. I remember being so bummed out when Jl pulled the plug, I had a list of cars that were to be done by them and it was fantastic. They were to use their 1990 Ford Crown Vic as Georgia State patrol and the San Francisco PD. They even had the LAPD slated using their Chevy Caprice.
.
The 74 Monaco casting was great, they continue to use it as part of their Dukes of Hazzard line. I agree with the Mt Prospect version though, absolutely outstanding. I managed to grab half a dozen when they were part of their mail order special.
.
I am happy to see that GL are getting good feedback on their police line. The AMC Javelin should prove to be very popular as its never been done before and should appeal to all collectors, not just the police collector.
Lummox 04-23-2009, 11:05 PM I hope GL will make a mold for a sedan roof.
2dr sedans were actually common, but hartops were very uncommon.
Patrolman 04-29-2009, 02:21 AM It does not look too bad,

I think it looks just plain awesome! I'm excited about this one!!!
tamiyatim 04-29-2009, 12:39 PM I can't wait to see a roadrunner police version!! hopefully they'll come out with a 70's Monaco, Coronet, or hopefully a 77 Pontiac like Sheriff Beauford T. Justice!!!
bluehemi818 04-29-2009, 04:02 PM HOT DAMN!!! Man, this just gets me goin! Who else here believes that the authenticity of the lights is the most important thing? That is a very nice buble gum machine on that roof for sure. I think that is JL's biggest downfall. The reason why the american blue monacos were perfect was because of the fantastic light bars. I am disgusted by the way they try to pawn off a newer style lightbar for the dukes versions. That lightbar is more of a 90's style and not even close to anythng used in the 70's or 80's. Same thing with matchbox and there new monaco casting. Great casting.....fantastic actually and its only 97 cents, but seriously, how much does it cost to mold out some more accurate lights? I am dying to see the rest of this Hot Pursuit series.
Greenlight - make sure that 76 trans am makes it into Hot Pursuit Rel 2 !!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing a dodge pick-up used in this series......maybe an old conservation police or something.
No need for words! Here is Hot Pursuit Series 1!
