grungerockjeepe 04-16-2009, 10:40 PM Nice work, VJ. Clean simple, and very trick. Now, since when does RRR make wheels for Tycos? Or is there some kind of shenannigans at work here?
That is slick! Looks like it will haul ...
resinmonger 04-16-2009, 11:50 PM VJ is like a hit machine - he just keeps cranking them out. I thought the Trick Truck that he has on the bay was really sweet but this Vicky keeps calling me back for another view.

videojimmy 04-17-2009, 12:46 AM Thanks Guys... love the song, I'm laughing my butt off! LOL!
RRR rims are a remake of the original Aurora truck rims. They make them in the original yellow but also in red, black and chrome. I wish they made them in white too. I really like them. To mount them on the 440-X2 chassis, I bored out the holes for the front axel with a small phillipshead... just a little bit. Then I used a JL tuff ones front axel with the nub cut off. They fit the rims perfectly, they fit snug in the chassis's axel holder and they still spin freely.
For the rear ... I trimmed the axel first, the rims aren't as deep as the 440 rims.
The RRR rim hole is just a tiny bit bigger than the Tyco axel ... so I halfway filled the holes with expoxy. Wait 10 mins for the glue to set up... slide the rims, with the tires already on them, onto the axel. Then I run the chassis on a small oval for a few minutes... the rims find their center on the axel. Pull chassis off track, let dry.. and you good to go. I use this method with Vincent rims too. Sometimes I might use some thin tape around the end of the axle ... but this way gives me a much more even ride, as the rims find their own center. The trick is making sure the glue is just starting to harden so it won;t leak out, but still soft enough to surround the axel when you slide the rims on.
And Bruce... I rushed these pics this morning before work. If you want better pics, let me know. I wouldn't mind giving it a wipe down before shooting new ones.
Hilltop Raceway 04-17-2009, 01:22 AM That's a cool hot rod VJ :thumbsup: I likes them chrome attachment goodies!!! Looks like a Tyco Nomad scoop maybe, not sure about the ventilation tubes??? ... RM
Bad Dawg Slots 04-17-2009, 01:33 AM VJ , work one up .No rush I won't have the frame work back from web designer for a couple weeks . I really enjoy seeing what you guys do with the bodies . It's what you guys do that make them look as good as they do.
grungerockjeepe 04-17-2009, 01:29 PM VJ--nice trick for fitting those rims. Ever try boring out the rear axle boss and using a Tomy rear axle? Ive gotten AFX rims onto HP-2, HP-7 and black 440 chassis using this method. Im gonna try those RRR rims at some point, those would look nice on a lot of different bodystyles.
win43 04-17-2009, 01:34 PM Sweet!!!!
