Guys,
Check the GASCAR website at www.gascarnitroracing.com for new information regarding the rules and race format. We have changed the rule on the HPI A870 muffler to make it compatible with the OS and Associated mufflers. Also, in the spirit of GASCAR racing formats, race #5 at Rock Hill, will consist of TWIN, 100 lap mains. GASCAR was conceived with the format of longer mains. We will run two mains, with a mandatory red flag pit stop at the 50 lap mark. The muffler rule change does not require a majority vote by members, since it makes it easier for ALL racers running the GASCAR races.

Also, the membership vote on mandating the .12 engine for the next Rock Hill race is not complete. I still need all GASCAR members to e-mail me their vote on this, so we can post it on the website. I have not heard from Roger Douglas or Brian Ragsdale. We need this to be a vote by all members of GASCAR, so please send your vote to coyotekars@aol.com .

Thanks,
Tim Smith, President
GASCAR

Just can't make those dang smurfs happy can ya Tim?

Set up a race, they have to change the format.

Provide a webite for info, they want it changed.

Heck we are already running blue heads on the engines, next thing you know they will be wanting us to all run blue bodies.

Will it ever end!?!?!?!?!?

I have an issue with the twin 100 lap races. We have proven in the past that red flag stops at Rockhill failed. With 10 cars going that fast with that much noise, you cannot hear them call for the red flag and you end up with people getting passed cause 1 guy slows down and the others don't. I would rather have it 250 and everyone have a pit crew to pit the cars. This is how the series was started. Or go to 5 min racing with no stops or triple mains of 50 laps. my 2 cents.

Seeing as I have not run there but once, I did not know the red flag stops had a problem.

Me I would think green flag stops would be almost disasterous there, seeing as pit entry is right off of turn three in the race line, I can see many a car getting booted trying to pit.

I would think red-flag stops, with us pitting on the outside wall for the re-fuel, would not be a problem.

Running 250 there, will be nothing short of a challenge. But running 100 should not be a problem, I hope anyway.

The race format is up for discussion. Those of you who run at Rock Hill know more about the problems than I do, since I have only run there twice. The first time we ran 250 laps with green flag stops, and did not have a problem. We could pit on the inside, and everyone come in at the same time....let a fuel guy fuel the cars. I did not have a problem hearing the announcer last weekend, but I have not run there more than twice. Lets discuss this and decide the best course of action. I do see a problem with 10 cars pulling to the outside, where we are driving, and trying to refuel cars and line up again. Maybe if the race director calls for a "caution" at lap 49, and everyone slows down and pits on pit road, at the same time...as soon as cars are fueled, we roll off, in line, and start racing coming out of turn three or four. But, I do like the longer mains, if we can work it out.

Everyone has sent in their vote on mandating the .12 engine at Rock Hill for the September race. Seven drivers voted to keep the engine rule as it is; run your choice of the .12 or .15. Three drivers voted to run the .12 only. One driver voted to run the .15 and restrict it with the .170 restrictor. Since the majority voted to keep the present engine rule intact, then it stays that way for the Rock Hill race in September. Engine and restrictors are by choice. Majority rules.

Thanks for your votes.

I am not sure how the lap counting system works but is it possible to "freeze the field" in that system? Kind of like hit the pause the button to hold eveyone's current posistion on the track, then everyone could come down pit road get fuel and line back up in the posistion they were in. Not sure that is even possible but that would be a good way to have a caution without getting passed on the track because you slowed down but 3 other guys did not so you lose 3 positions. Other than that if we don't run green flag pit stops then I am in favor of tripple 50 lap A mains like we did this last time. Thanks for listening.

Casey,
I will talk with Mike, the race director at Rock Hill, and ask him about that. With running a main based on time, (such as 5 minutes) I don't see a way of freezing the field. But, with running laps, it might work, I am not a computer guru with these race systems. I will ask him and post it here.

As far as green flag pit stops go, the main issue was slowing down in turn three and brake for pit road. The low groove is the RACE groove, and unless drivers communicate with "PITTING IN TURN FOUR".... rear end crashes will be the norm. Drivers know that everyone has to pit, so courtesy has got to be the norm. We all have been racing with each other for years, now, and we know each others driving style pretty well, and most of all, we trust each other, but pit road at The Rock is pretty hard to get to under speed, since its on the inside. But, we did it at the Sugar Bowl......without any problem. it's just another thing a driver has to be aware of....... We ran green flag stops at the Sugar Bowl and did pretty well with it. Pit road was on the inside, then.

I'll do whatever you guys decide, but I am also in favor of a long race with green flag pitstops.
