Very nice castings all!
I saw a real orange C111 at a design exhibition 2 or 3 years ago and i was surprised just how good most of the casting actually are when it came to capturing the lines of the 2 different C111s.
We have a lot of expertise on this forum, so I will tell everybody my photo contains a Solido and a Corgi and let everybody else identify the others!

That Solido looks fantastic.
This car really needs those larger rear tires to look right.
The dark green one in the middle looks good, but those other ones seem to suffer from the small rear tires and maybe the lines aren't quite right(?)
Great line up as allways SMS!

Edit: Now that I lokk at them it appearse there are two different body styles of the C-111?
The one style (Solido) is great, but the other looks too chunky in the rear.

That middle one looks a little familiar but mine is not electric!

:D the fastest way I could get those headlamps to stay up! Missing its engine cover, $1.50 from a beater box a couple of years ago, and very nice!

There maybe 3 different C111 body styles -the orange Corgi being perhaps the first, the bare metal car (made in Italy) the last with rectangular rear lamps, amd the smallscale yellow car appears to be a transition between the pair having round rear lamps ,later front and the sliding window........

I also like the Solido best, it has suspension and rubber tyres with diecast rims and detailed motor 10/10

Does anybody have the common Lesney Matchbox Speed Kings issue to add to the discussion?
The first show car was orange but subsequent examples may have all been metallic green as other toymakers ll chose that colour...........

C-111 was a great concept (I think there were 3 different body styles...maybe even more?), but I didn't know it was made by so many die-cast companies. Solido looks really nice, there was also one made by Minichamps.

Corgi actually went to the trouble to cast 2 different body styles when for my money the most elegant car is the orange one.......
In small scale we have at least 3 - but which order did Mercedes design them in and do we have all 4 shown on this thread?

The Playart is a very good copy of the Mercury C111

Now I am curious - which is which?

I - 1969 Frankfurt International Motor Show, wankel
II - 1970 Geneva Motor Show, wankel
IID (http://jalopnik.com/301032/frankfurt-auto-show-mercedes+benz-rekordwagen-c111+iid) - 1976 record attempt, diesel
III (http://www.allsportauto.com/english/mercedes-c111-III.php) - 1978, a whole different beast, turbodiesel
IV - 1979, modified beast, gasoline

See all of them at a French blog (http://mercedesc111.canalblog.com/), and I and II here (http://emercedesbenz.com/Jul08/31_001312_eMercedesBenz_Feature_A_Look_Back_At_The _Mercedes_Benz_C_111_Research_Vehicle.html).
