I just watched this Vampire film from Sweden called "Let the Right One In".
It's basically about a friendship between an adolescent boy and a adolescent Vampire girl. It has a good plot and good acting. The English overdubbing is sort of goofy sounding. In spite of that, I still recommend seeing this film. I heard that an American remake of this movie is now in the works...

I saw it a couple of weeks ago. It is a pretty creepy flick. It kinda reminded me of "30 Days of Night" (the snow) mixed with "Near Dark". I found it intriguing that the director chose to set the movie in cold war 1982, it really worked to bring home the feeling of desolation in the boys' world. I really loved the last scene that left it open ended. I see that becoming the Swedish equivalent to "Ringu".

I really hope that an American version of this film is NOT done. Hollywood will ruin it with too much talking and recognizable actors.

VERY good movie. Quite offbeat. Definately not your run of the mill vampire movie.

The first edition of the movie has subtitles that are not very good. They're coming out with a new one with better subtitles, it will be marked on the box somehow (but I forget how - google is your friend).

It has to do with the subtitles on the DVD being different from the American theatrical release. Fams were in a bit of an uproar over it. So now the new release of the film on DVD will have the original American subtitles.

Essentially,, the current subs dumb down the movie to the point of losing much of the flavor and finer points of the character interactions. Look on the back for the spec listings - under subtitles the corrected version will say English (Theatrical).

I've not seen it yet, but read the fantastic novel. Some of the meat of the story had to be left unfilmed for purposes of running time. Highly recommended, it's a disturbing work.

And, yes, it's being remade. Last I heard, it was the new Hammer Studios who had the license, but that may be out-of-date info by now.

My DVD doesn't have english subtitles, just english ovedubbing. The subtitles are in spanish. I tried watching it in swedish because I know German, but swedish is too different from German for me to follow.

Yeah, I saw the dubbed version which kind of spoiled it for me. Otherwise, I thought it was a great movie ... considering I'm just not into the current fare of slasher/horror movies.
