The date is set for the 2009 Ovalmasters. The 5th annual edition will be November 6-8 at Greeneville RC. Alan and I have decided that the race will be held on the first full weekend of November each year. Hyperdrive is returning for the 5th year along with Thunder Power as title sponsors.

We are working on getting sponsors resigned along with classes and rules. We should have something out by July. We are looking to have a nice mix of single and 2cell classes. You can send questions and comments to my email at Hyperdrive21@windstream.net.

Thanks for your support of our event.

I think it would be awesome to get the NE guys down to the Oval Masters. Stop in PA and pick up that crew too. If you guys come to one of Alan's races you will not be disappointed. It is one of the best races of the year. It also pulls some of the best oval racers in the US, so you know there will be great competition.

Hey Guys

I am glad to haer you all are coming down. We will be glad to have you come race with us. We will have an offical race flyer out soon.
But you can count on several single cell classes. 17.5/13.5/10.5. Also21.5/3200, not sure if we will have both or not but also 17.5/5200 and or a single cell type mod. We are doing some testing now with the new more powerful single cell to see if they are going to work in a mod type class. We will have a flyer up next month with all the rules and info on it.

if you need more info don't hesitate to contact me or Mike at our email address or give me a phone call.

I retire for the year after the October race at Homestead... Lucky me, I already have the time off

I agree... motors and batteries should be open. I didn't realize oval had become the RC equivalent of IROC.

Funny thing I see is it's sponsored drivers in faver of open rules . just because they can afford it and it keeps the guys who have the skills but not the bucks to have the newer and better packs and motors behind them . I think they dont like it when racing has a level playing field when it comes to motors and batts. it makes it a bit closer and they dont like it and are scared of losing sponsors to drivers who have just as good skills but dont have the funds to keep up with the better stuff. and anyone who says batteries and motors dont help win races is a liar.

casper its no where near iroc at least we can setup our cars and run whatever chassis we want

Why is oval dying in some areas it's sponsord drivers keeping the cost up. and tracks catering to them by allowing them to ues whatever they want.

Why are people scared of everyone running the same motor/batt? Are you afraid of getting your butt kick.

05-29-2009, 09:44 PM
I don't think it really matters. a majority of the sponsored guys you talk about have a box full of anything and everything anyhow. I just don't see why batteries and motors should be spec for a national level event.

In my opinion the fact that it's a national event should be a major reason why batts and motors should be limited. In my opinion it should be who can set their car up the best and drive the best, not who can find the best battery and motor. Bad enough people buy numerous rotors just to find the best one. I have heard people talk about having hand out rotors for events! That would be interesting wouldn't it. This is just my opinion I plan on coming down for the race and it sounds like it is going to be a great time with a lot of great drivers! I just hope when the rules are posted that there wont be any bitching or complaining! :)

I always believed Nationals and worlds were about the best driver and equipment. These events are for both drivers and MFG to showcase their talents/products. We have enough spec classes, leave something open to showcase new products.
