View Full Version : BFG Outdoor Season - 2009 - Grandville, MI
Tdevil 04-09-2009, 09:23 AM We are running off-road on Wednesday at 6:30, Friday night at 7 and Sunday at 1:00.
Link to video of track: www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7tmeKBeYQU
Along with this schedule, I would like to announce a Race Pass program which will provide unlimited practice and race event fees for a month. Pases will be available beginning the month of May:
R/C Car Pass - Includes unlimited practice and race events (off-road and oval) for the month - $100. Example if you raced Wednesday and once on the weekend your total race fees for the month would be $96 under the current program. Think about it, for a hundred bucks, you can basically live at the track like I do!!!!
Rock Crawling Pass - Includes unlimited practice and comps - $50. Under the current program if you practice once a week and attend the Sunday comps you would spend $60. With the pass you can come out when ever you want and save $10. (Price may increase as we add Rock Racing and additional Crawling comps)
Combined pass - Allows for unlimited R/C racing and Rock Crawling - $125
We will continue to offer the Store Membership for $30 ($25 for Rock Crawling or Fatal Impact club members) per month which allows for unlimited practice and 25% off race/comp fees.
For R/C racing you will continue to receive $2 off your second race day of the week and half off your 3rd and 4th race days in the same week (Wednesday is always the first race day of the week and Sunday the last) if you do not have a Race Pass or Store Membership.
Hopefully one of these programs works for you. If you tell me how often you plan on coming out for racing and practicing I can tell you which program will be best for you. We want to keep it affordable and give everyone the opportunity to join us as often as they can.
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 09:37 AM YES!!! the first to post
MWilterink 04-09-2009, 09:38 AM Damn...you beat me to it
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 09:39 AM   :p
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 09:44 AM Ok, so I had a chance to watch the video that Revo posted. I agree there are some great features in there. I saw a couple that I think can be modified to fit. Alot of it will just be trial and error. Tracks like that are only running 1/8th scale gas so everyone is on equal power. I just need to be able to modify it to fit all vehicle. I will assure you that I am going for some big air and technical spots.
J Blaze 04-09-2009, 10:02 AM technical is nice but dont 4get the new peeps coming in are not going to want to brake all the time! some marshels get a little pissy when they have to work 2 much!!!!!!!!
just saying?
J Blaze 04-09-2009, 10:03 AM theirs going 2 be a novice class right??
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 10:19 AM I agree 100% J. I am going to make sure that the track has great features but is still very driveable for us beginners. Nothing worse than fighting a couple of features the whole day rather than racing. I am trying to get as many people out there 4/18 and especially 4/19 with as many different vehicles as possible. Several people testing is the only real world test I can do on a layout. I am doing my best to make it fun for everyone, but we all know how that goes. lol Now if we had a $20,000 budget, two bobcats, a small track loader, sheeps foot roller, a cad genius, couple of PRO racers as advisors, and 30 skilled track people it may be a little easier but, since we dont we will just work our asses off to have a fun track.
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 10:21 AM I think a novice class of run what you brung would be a great idea. Joe and I have been talking about getting buggies and just putting a 27t brushed motor in them and doing such a class. That would give us a class to be slow and learn the car in and let the fast guys not have to drive around us or bitch b/c we spun out in front of them.

Dart and I are on the same page on what we have going on and everybody's contribution is much appreciated and will help make for a great outdoor season!!!
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 10:29 AM Keep the input coming guys. The more people that speak up now will help with the build process. Not every feature on the track will be everyones favorite but there will, with out a doubt be something for everyone.
its nice to be talking about outdoors! schedule looks good nice to see electric welcome on sat with 131- stateline-m40 in gobles all running nitro on some saturdays it will be good for us guys to have some place to run on off weekends with our electric toys. for us guys that work fridaynights that is!
REVO-Beat-U 04-09-2009, 11:21 AM This is a note for anyone who is working on the track currently. First thanks for your efforts, that expansion is going to really open the track up nicely and get some wide lanes for fast racing and it looks like it will be large enough to fit 1/8th scale easily.
Also, I suggest anyone working on the track develop thick skin quickly. There are some huge cry babies in the RC world and several of them live in the Grand Rapids area and will sit in the pits and complain about how much your hard work on the track sucks. Be ready to ignore them now, because it will happen (just ask Flipse and E about that).
Long and short of it is this, it might not be perfect the first couple weeks, but I am sure it will get better and better each week through some tweaking here and there. Thanks again for your work, and remember to hand a shovel to anyone who tells you what your doing wrong and invite them to help fix it and use some muscles besides their mouths!
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 11:27 AM Thank you Revo. Kind of funny how all of that works huh? I will with out a doubt take a couple of weeks to get it closer to perfect but I will be sure to do all I can to make it as fun, fast and huge as possible.
OH, and I am working on the thick skin thing. :) Sometimes it is more the person saying it than what is said.
J Blaze 04-09-2009, 01:01 PM p.s. i wasnt talking about me.

scrmngchkn 04-09-2009, 01:26 PM you do seem to break alot of stuff. then again so do i!!!

Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 01:29 PM LMAO!!! Already at two pages.
rodeojoe 04-09-2009, 01:51 PM with the way the outdoor track is shaping up i wish i was going to be around more than once or twice in the summer to run on it
twistedone 04-09-2009, 01:54 PM if I run Slash on the 25th and 2.2 and 1.9 on the 26th do I get the 3 class discount?
J Blaze 04-09-2009, 02:09 PM good ????????????
J Blaze 04-09-2009, 02:10 PM Butch do U sell 1/8 scale ovel bodys 4 the slash?
REVO-Beat-U 04-09-2009, 02:22 PM I saw that you were thinking nitro on Saturdays. Keep in mind that means we will need a pit lane on the track for fueling. No one will run nitro unless we do 10+ minute races which will require a fuel stop during the race. Make sure you have room for a pit lane in your design. Also, we should consider a chain link fence behind the drivers stand in the event a RC runaway occures. We could use something as simple as those orange plastic heavy duty fenses, we just need something to keep the RC out of the drink. Just some thoughts, in case you did not already consider them.
Tdevil 04-09-2009, 02:22 PM We got dirt!!!! Two loads on the front straight to start with. It is a bit on the soggy side, but should shape and pack really well!!!!
Tdevil 04-09-2009, 02:26 PM Already considering the fencing. Keeps the cars in and the bmx bikes out!!!
We may end up having to move the driver's stand back like we talked about last year. I know it would mean removing the siding and residing it, but it might be the only option.

:thumbsup:Thanks Revo could have not said it better hope to be out soon to run outdoors.
LOSI_Duck 04-09-2009, 02:43 PM As do I, and Moose, and Lenoard, and Joe, and Muller, and anybody else who puts there truck on the track with Fish, and Don, and James, and JoJo........
~At least you should all be safe from me, since I will be inside practicing when you all race out side.~ Tonia:thumbsup:
beefgravy 04-09-2009, 03:43 PM Got to say hi in the new thread..lol
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 03:44 PM Just saw the pile of dirt and we are in good shape. John and I discussed the pit stand and should have plenty of room. I also looked at some more elevation changes that Revo had suggested and think it will probably work and be pretty sick. For anyone that looks out back and the pile, the table top is going to be at least that tall but not that long with some huge air.
Looks like this is going to be a great layout!!! Can't wait

Its called commitment rodeo... If you love the track... then show it you love it.. buy it dinner, massage it, and tell it how good it looks... and above all...

i'm showing my love by helping to make the track all that it can be ... sadly i won't be around to see here first big race and she'll probably be completely different by the time i get back in august

I want my buggy at eye level while Im on the drivers stand when I go over that table top!
Lawn Dart 04-09-2009, 04:17 PM That is exactly what we are going for. I will keep adjusting it until we achieve this. What motor does your buggy have in it?
Butch 04-09-2009, 04:32 PM 1/8th scale bodies for the slash. If you let me know what you want I will get it for you.
Butch
REVO-Beat-U 04-09-2009, 04:57 PM That is exactly what we are going for. I will keep adjusting it until we achieve this. What motor does your buggy have in it?
I want to be able to do it with a 17.5 in it.
J Blaze 04-09-2009, 07:52 PM I kind of liked running the 17.5!!!!
didnt break any thing!!!
LOSI_Duck 04-09-2009, 07:52 PM As do I, and Moose, and Lenoard, and Joe, and Muller, and anybody else who puts there truck on the track with Fish, and Don, and James, and JoJo........
Ouch I would almost feel offended if I thought you would actually show up and race. You and moose and Muller in the same sentence means wrecks. Besides you would just change classes again so I can't get even and punt your tush off the track. Or is it you are afraid that you would be eating to much dust trying to punt me. Either way it just won't happen now will it!!!!!!!!
Lenny you aren't part of this you are a better driver anyways.
J Blaze 04-10-2009, 09:08 AM cant wait to get outside and race!!!!!!!!!!:wave:
J Blaze 04-10-2009, 10:30 AM nice day!!!!
J Blaze 04-10-2009, 02:29 PM Big Bump!!!!!!!!!!
rodeojoe 04-10-2009, 02:38 PM blaze you need something to do all day instead of talk to yourself on hobby talk lol get a hobby... maybe a nice rc car would keep you busy
Lawn Dart 04-10-2009, 06:07 PM Nothing wrong with talking to yourself. Its just when you start saying huh????
J Blaze 04-10-2009, 07:13 PM yea right!
huh?
ok!!!!!
REVO-Beat-U 04-10-2009, 11:01 PM I stopped out and took a look at the track tonight. Holy crap guys, there are 6 - 8 foot tall features out there and more is yet to come. That table top is almost a long as the driver stand. Lanes all look to be 10 or 12 feet wide. This is going to be a sweet ass track for 1/8th scales. Should be super fast for 1/10th scales to. And it looks like the Slash will be able to navigate it just fine also. I think the 1/10 and 1/8 will be able to launch above our heads on the drivers stand (if you dare to). The track has gone from a nice 1/10th scale track, to a large enough for 1/8th scale track and still will have room to spare. Come on nice weather, cant wait to get outside!
smitymike11 04-11-2009, 09:33 AM For any of you that were interisted in the quarter midgets we will have the at berlin on the 18th. That is opening night for them. We will have 6 cars on display there and then the will be running around the track before racing starts.
J Blaze 04-12-2009, 10:17 AM good day racing sat !!!
thanks 2 all the good people that helped us !!!!!!
Lawn Dart 04-12-2009, 02:40 PM I am planning on doing some work on the track tomorrow night for anyone looking to help out. It will all be wheel barrow and shovel work. All pumped up now for the monster outdoor features!!!!!
