i've been grabbing every one of these that i've come across. i feel johnny lightning missed the boat on this one. if matchbox could get the licensing to do this one, i'm sure JL could have as well. it is sad considering that JL has the Dukes of Hazzard series and this is the casting they should have been using all along for their patrol cars instead of pawning off a lame filler casting on us as something it is not!! it just goes to show that they could care less about the collector and they'll just slap some tampos on a casting instead of giving us something as it should be. i passed on buying all of the recent lame DOH patrol cars JL has been giving us. thanks to MB, i can make my own custom versions and have cars that were actually part of the show.

I agree!! Now if only they'd do a 70 caddy... although, the original Ertl one wasn't too bad... Hotwheels made a later 70's Ford pickup that could be pawned off as uncle Jesse's truck too, but it's a long bed, not a short...

Heck, even Yatming/ZEE/Zylmex had a 77-78 monaco way before matchbox did.. but it was way too small in scale...

I just wonder why they didn't put the dogdish wheels on it though... that was kinda disappointing...

Wow. I can't find any either. I hate it when a certain car is desired by everyone and then they almost become "chase" cars.

FYI: The Monaco is actually smaller in scale than the desired 1:64. If you look at the base (just behind the right front wheel) it's announced as 1:71-scale. I remember the 1:1-scale B-Monacos were actually longer than many of today's cars. I compared the MBX Monaco to a MBX '06 Charger Police Car and the Charger is slightly bigger, whereas on the 1:1-scale versions the Monaco was actually longer than the Charger. I'm not knocking the casting in any way, but I just think it should have been a tad bigger to compensate.

i don't mind if it is off scale. the length is dead even with JLs General Lee which means it will pair nicely with it for custom patrol cars.

They had to make it fit on the card. The whole common packaging thing.

well, i decided to strip down a few of the fleet for a repaint. although it was a rushed custom, i feel it turned out pretty well. i also added some detail to the stocker by detailing the marker lights and taillights along with adding some detail to the light bar. i also added some body color between the grille and headlights as it should be. the trim around the windows turned out sloppy but it was the best i could do with my daughter yanking at me. the only thing left is to fabricate some hazzard county sheriff decals and some dog dish caps.

looks great. One suggestion, ditch the lightbar and find a more period correct bar and it will be awesome!

WOW! Just the addition of the dog dishes improved the look tremendously, especially on the black and white squad. You did good!
