Pat sent me two stripped castings of this one. I just got started on the second. Made a mess but not unrepairable.

I have a moral imperative about learning to make opening doors, just cant cut a straight line. I left the doors somewhat intact for now and need to replace some of the body while filling in the crooked cuts. I did this with the Vista hood and Pat showed good instuctions on his Bone Shaker build. Like I said Pat, I've saved them all! This casting has a lot of flash to clean up, but I've been sanding away on it. I even thought up an idea for a gurney with folding legs to go in it. An ambulance. It may be more advanced then I know how to do, but if ya dont try, how do ya learn I guess.

Bob -

for your next outting...............

Grab two castings - cut the first way outside of the doors so that you have more material than you need. On the second cut out the doors only cut way inside the lines. Using a griding tool, finish off the cuts to the exact door lines.

On the doors that were overcut, grind down the edges, little by little to get the correct tight fit.

I have never successfully cut doors - with the exception of a couple side doors, out of one casting.

Just some thoughts.........

Gunn has a how-to posted on Hot World that shows this..........
