I've attached the Final Points Standings for the 2008-2009 BRL Oval Tour. I hope most of you can read the Word file.

There were some incredible points battles this year. A few highlights:

In 17.5 Sportsman Stock Kevin Klyber managed to win the series by a half point over Brian Deel! Dan Mickle managed to snag third in the final standings over David Hoaglin by a similar small margin. Nick Sackett took the fifth spot. 46 drivers competed for points in 17.5 during this year's Tour.

In 13.5 Super Stock, William Gibson rode a strong performance at Cincinnati to a 5.5 point margin over Chad Humble for the title in that class. Travis Russel, Rick Kanschat and Todd Falkowski rounded out the top 5. Just last year, 13.5 was the most popular class in the BRL. But with the introduction of Lipo batteries, this year only 23 drivers competed in this class during the season.

Talk about a close one! After a season of incredibly tight qualifying and racing, the 21.5 Super Stock points chase was fittingly close as well. With the top 5 in points coming into Cincy failing to make the A main, the stage was set for someone to make a big move. Mike Makus came into Ohio 8th in points but qualified at the top of the heap and finished 3rd in the A Main to capture the title by a half point over Mark Steiner and Chad Humble. Steiner took the second spot in points over Humble by virture of the tie breaker, a better finishing position at the Novak National Finals. Charlie Flanagan 3 took 4th and Ben Sackett 5th as only 5.5 points separated the top 5! 21.5 replaced 13.5 as the most popular class in the BRL with 92 different drivers earning points during the season!

In ProMod, Monti, the Mangler, Panzica took top honors over Eli Ezrow with Danny Bartholomew, Mark Steiner and Hays Reeling Jr completing the top 5. The ProMod class saw 41 different drivers compete in at least one race this season.

Another great season of BRL racing is now "in the books" and I'm sure all the racers join me in thanking Sonny and the Series sponsors. Have a great summer and hope to see everyone next fall.

PS I'll post the results of the Mains from Cincy tomorrow.
