I saw the Last House On the Left last night. Not too bad of a film. There is alot of violence in the film, as one would expect. Not much gore though. It gets pretty suspenseful as the film builds. Unfortunately, I never saw the 1972 original, so I can't say how it compares.

I saw the original a couple of months back on TCM Underground and couldn't believe what an inept, incoherent piece of filmmaking it was. I know the original has a cult reputation but for the life of me I can't figure out why. It's not "good" bad ala' "Plan 9 From Outer Space" or "2000 Maniacs". It's just really really bad. IMHO of course.

When I was hanging out with a horror film fan/film school crowd in the 70s and 80s, they wanted to do a spoof remake titled "The Third House Somewhere Down the Block in the Middle on the Left." :)
