View Full Version : I promised myself I wouldn't be one of those people...
PWSchuh 04-03-2009, 10:31 PM ... You know, the kind that stores away toy cars and then forgets that he has them. I'm ashamed. Got most of these in a collection I purchased years ago and these are the ones I didn't need for my collection so I put 'em in a box in the closet and rediscovered them yesterday. I realize that most are only worth a few dollars each perhaps but I was hoping if a few of you experts could just scan these real quick and tell me if any of these are honestly hard-to-find or desirable. Most are 1/43 but please forgive the few that are not. Also forgive my poor snapshots that are in several cases lacking in depth of field or focus. I think you can get the gist in each case.
On with the show:
First up, Tekno Tornado. This one really is quite nice. Almost perfect except one front tire will barely turn.

More coming...
PWSchuh 04-03-2009, 10:32 PM Then two Schuco Piccolos’s: The GM Firebird and VW Kafer Police. Good tires. Both pretty well chipped and VW missing the top light.

Next up Corgis/Dinkys. All pretty much self-explanitory:
Corgi Bedford Fire Truck missing top ladder:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9420.jpg
Corgi Dropside Trailer. Good shape – some chips:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9421.jpg
Dinky Massey Harris Tractor and Hay Rake. Very nice:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9422.jpg
Dinky RCMP Ford. Well worn but complete except arial. Has 2 officers, door decals, top light and no cracks in windows:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9423.jpg
Dinky RR Silver Wraith. Well chipped but not broken anywhere. Has hood ornament:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9424.jpg
PWSchuh 04-03-2009, 10:34 PM Next are these little Japanese cutties. 2.25” length, cellulose heads. Missing part of green windshield actually looks like a factory defect as opposed to a break:
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9425.jpg
Corgi Smith’s Karrier Shop. Play worn. All decals but front one lifting.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k158/pwschuh/DSCN9426.jpg
Four Schuco Piccolo trucks. Dumper on left is worst with bubbling paint. Others are pretty nice. Sliding doors on Thermo Van work. Don’t know if flatbeds are missing loads:

Minty Matchbox Kingsize Cougar:

Playworn Corgi Ford Zephyr Estate:

Playworn Dinky Austin A40:

That’s the lot. Any hints greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.
Lummox 04-03-2009, 10:54 PM Strange, I was digging out my old stuff too.
I like this selection of cars a lot!
A short little while ago I posted a thread looking for a Toronado for a friend of mine.
He had one as a kid and doesn't remember the maker, but from what he describes, this may be it.
He said it had steerable wheels. He may well like top buy this if'n you wanna dump it.
Thanks!

This could be it. Front wheels turn. (One doesn't rotate very well but the turning mechanism is fine.) It's really in in superb shape.
Decided to check ebay on a whim and found this one on offer by a Canadian dealer for $120. Mine is likely just a little nicer than his based on the description. But for a friend of Lummox I would go cheaper than that...

Lummox 04-03-2009, 11:28 PM Well that's nice, thanks!
He's a fair guy, he'll pay a fair price if it's the right one. I just e.mailed him this thread.
I do remember him saying that he though the base unscrewed, does yours?
PWSchuh 04-03-2009, 11:32 PM Sorry, forgot this one. Could be important to some European collectors. Norev Simca Ariane. PLastic body on metal chassis. Could stand a good cleaning but not damaged. Tires not split.

It seems not. You can see from the photo that there are not visible screws or rivets. That deep hole in the center appears to be just that: nothing inside there. The silver dot near the front appears to be part of either the steering or headlight mechanism.
Lummox 04-04-2009, 11:02 AM Such an interesting piece with all it's functions.
Now that I look more, I can't even see HOW it's atached.
Maybe it's screwed in through the trunk and perhaps it's atached by a slot in the front?
I like that '61 Ford squad car too.
karl s 04-04-2009, 12:32 PM Tekno or Corgi or Pilen? The Tekno was actually made by Kirk, so you see their name on the baseplate as well.
Be careful with the TEKNO - it is designed to be taken apart and re-assembled. If you press the tip of a pen into that silver button on the baseplate, it will come apart. However, you may need the instructions to put it back togther.

Its easy to put back together provided you study and memorise how the front steering parts fit around each other. I have the Tekno in white to complement the red & silver cars shown here - it was also made in metallic blue
