Like the title says, what is your opinion?

A Dale Earnhardt COT? Holy cow, it was not even a concept at the time of his passing! And I love this one...throwing others deceased stars like John Wayne onto fantasy releaseswith him? What is up with that?

Do you consider all the fantasy Dale Earnhardt castings released over the last couple of years a tribute to a true icon of the sport? Of just a shameless money grab from the license holders and estate.

I am not a real NASCAR collector, and only have a couple of Earnhardt pieces in my collection. But if I were a diehard fan, I am not sure how I would take this trend. Would I feel compelled to buy the fantasy junk to keep the collection complete (what they are hoping for by the way) or would I be disgusted with the whole business. Dragging the man through the money sewers just to prop up a struggling industry.

Well, by reading my own words, maybe I DO know how I would feel!:freak: So sound off, what do you guys think? I look forward to your responses.

remembers, my last post got deleted due to run away language, so let's keep this one between the ditches!:p

Ditto.....

It's just another way Teresa is making money off of his name. It would have been fine if she used his name with his foundation....but this whole Johnny Cash and John Wayne deal(and I'm sure there are more to come) is such a joke. And the COT diecast/real car was a joke as well. $70 for a car the guy never drove. They should stick to the cars he drove throughout his career.

I see this the same as the non-nascar cars that are painted with nascar paint schemes, or the train sets, or even the "crash" cars. What a crock.

I am a Dale fan, have been for 25 years, maybe 30...
I have not added anything NEW to my collection after 2002, only old stock stuff.

just someone trying to get rich on his name.

Just another way for Theresa to continue to profit off his name. It's a disgrace, and even if I were still collecting NASCAR die cast I would not buy any of these items, period! Just as you said Ward, nothing but a shameless money grab.

Although it is tasteless,it is her property to sell and licence(and if I am right I think Dale Sr. is still like #2 or 3 in merchandise sales at the track). The race team is in the toilet, she has child to raise and if she needs to let these "fantasy" cars be produced to keep DALES race team afloat and keep food on her table and a roof over her and her kids head so be it. If you think it is wrong don't buy it and if enough people don't buy this stuff the market will dry up.

I personally think the car he flipped at Daytona (I think it was there),got out, took a look at it,then got back in it and finished the race is one diecast I must have.

With that said if Theresa ever puts out a "death car" all bets are off and she should have her head examined and her licence taken away from her.

It doesn't really bother me. If the rabid Dale fans want to buy crap plastered with his picture and name on it and his family can make a buck then so be it.

If somebody ever made crap with Ford racers from the 60's on it you know I would have that stuff all over my house.

Just a way to make money.
Acton and WC both need to start making more current drivers and actual paint schemes.
And more 1/64 platinum cars.

for the most part i think she's nuts!but i'm guilty of buying 2 of the new "ledgens series" cars just to keep up the collection.i do agree she's just after the money, but had to have one....

As for me...I'll stick to the ones that the drivers actually DROVE. Or possibly the occasional car where the money goes to a good cause. But to put together something simply to make a few more buck$ vanish from my wallet...well...I'll spend it on something else thank you.

No worse than the $hamless crud paisted on real "stock" cars.
