Depending on the length of your season you could have a set number of drops. So say it 's a 10 race season you get 2 drops. Those can either be races you missed or poor finishes so that the season's points total is based only on your 8 best races.

Sounds good matt.

I would like to add, the way we did it is number of laps was your points.
So 81 laps in heat 1, you get 81 points.
5 points for TQ.
I would say give fastest lap 5 points.

On our last day (day that trophies would be handed out) it was double points!

Not that hard to keep track of, but my first season in rubber tire nastruck, me and one other guy were tied for first going in to the main on the last day of the series! Talk about close racing!

how we do it at the triclone is how many podeoms u get in the mains. then how many races u show up

If I were to do points, I would do:

1st = 100
2nd = 98
3rd = 96
4th = 94
5th = 92
etc
etc

TQ = 2 points

If you run 10 weeks, best 7 or 8 out of 10.

What I started doing for our series last year is this:

1st 100
2nd 99
3rd 98
4th 97
etc.

TQ = 1 pt.
SHOW = 2 pt. (show is guys who show up and pay to enter)

In a 10 race series we require at least 7 races be run to be considered for final placing, but only (2) throw outs are removed.

BONUS Points (TQ and SHOW) do NOT get thrown out.

So if a racer TQ's 5 races, and runs ALL 10 he's going to carry 25 bonus points plus his 8 finishing position points.

This helps reward those MAKE all the races...and support the entire series, not just specific events.
