Hi Guys,
New on here but some of the local Indians tell me there are a few people on this sector of the forum who would like to see a TC track in North Florida. Well thats what we are doing>>. see the web site. rc-international-speedways dot com... ( apparently I need to post a few times more before it will let me put URL's in.)

I know its not your beloved Oval BUt it is racing and whne we move to the new venue later in the year I am planning an Oval track there. We are looking at about a minimum of a 50K investment in tracks then.
Currently and for the next few months we will be running the temporary track at the current location daily with Friday race days. There will be a race series and there are sponsors so we will get to a trophy or two at the end of the year.

Don't know how much time I will have to be on here but i'll try and stay about to take Q&A. There is a blog on my site and also of course you can email me from there.

Good , fast and competitive racing .. Cheers Phil..

Phil if you decide on a oval. leave the banking out of it. just lay a nice smooth piece of flat asphalt. that gives the most bang for the buck.

and that flat piece of asphalt work just fine at stricklands

Sorry Zonic.... Tri Oval? please explain .. I was thinking more of the real daytona shape so we could get a pits lane in as well..

Phil, Daytona is a tri oval, I.E. one of the straights is not straight. Over the years some of the best RC oval tracks in the South East US have been tri-oval. Those being the Sugarbowl in Georgia and King in North Carolina. Good luck and stand your ground, lots of folks will want their idea of what is right. You can not please all and whatever you do don't have folks vote on ideas or rules, it will not work out.

BTW, ignore Katf1sh, he is just a hater!!!!!!!! You'll have to get use to him, his location isn't that far from yours.

Good Luck!

Ron, thanks.... i was wondering about that tri oval bit.. if space works out then that is what we will have... have no fears about rules and ideas..I have been in business for my self since i was 14 yrs old and run several very successful companies , this one going to be the next...... I will do as i please but will look at and consider others input.

If people like that Katf!sh chap dont see a benefit then of course they can go to other places... its not a worry to me.. I do as I say I will and often more..

damn only 3 days off the boat and i got one on! or chased one away?

look hobby world has 15 -20 entries a week
mtr has less than that a week
and you want to build another track?

if you have very deep pockets and need to lose alot of cash for tax purposes i say have at it...otherwise like cliff said (current track owner) times are very tough..

you fired some shots (for fun) when i fire shots (for alot of fun) you run away?

i do wish you the very best of luck in whatever you build.

bud if a little banter back and forth chased him away from hobby talk i can only imagine what happens after his first race....needing thick skin is an under statement!

more than one person asked me if it was a good idea to build a track..i said no way!

if we were having to chase away racers because we had too many i would think another track would be a great idea...now is not the time for anything other than ...

a nice dirt oval
a nice off road track/slasher track
rock climbing layout
or go smaller at first and build a nice stadium truck track..less room and less cost to start....

could any of us realy have anyones best interest in mind telling someone to drop 50,000 into a fish bowl in this economy?

If you guys would take the time and read his posts, he stated that that is exactly what he wants to do! He wants to build a Dirt track, a Banked Oval and a Touring Car track! Tracks that will be available 7 days a week. He says he has the space and the wherewithall to do it! I say what can it hurt! It IS his money and he seems to have a passion for R/C. Let him build his facility. Who knows, it may turn out to be R/C heaven!

And by the way Kat.... A little banter from a few malcontents, was the beginning of the downfall of FOCAR. Remember? I have a lot of respect for you Bill, always have. But trying to discourage this guy reminds me of what a few did to you and FOCAR, which I admire you for providing us, for a few years.

Hey... i would read all the posts, check out the web site and be smart before you speak...

My guess from your comments your a professional fisherman ? I have spent 37 years at sea before coming ashore and starting a marine consultancy business. I have bene Chief engineer of the largest ships in the world and once in the dim and distant past was the engineer on a prawn trawler in the Gulf of Carpenteria.. ( hardest job in my entire life) so i respect your job and ability... please respect mine and at least be constructive in your coments.
My guess is that any track still running is being managed correctly. If it's not then.......
By having three different tracks I will be able to utilise all of them at different times and with it being backed up with a shop that only caters for RC cars and trucks it will become popular..

Those of you who have met me will know i have a passion for what i do and "failure" is not in the dictionary. I would like to speak to all the people that four years ago when i cam ashore told me my idea for a specific management company for mega yachts wouldn't work and show them last years balance sheet of 4.5 million.....

please do make yourself know when you come to the track. i would love to say hello..

Phil

Time to leave this forum alone and see how many of you come and use what i build.. construction will start as soon as i have my staff back from te job they are on in Tampa .. by the end of the month we hope.

Hey Phil, i've been out to your place a couple of times (XRAY) and know your heart is in the right place. Before i touch a oval track in this area i would do a off road track big enough for 1/5 -1/8 scale, and a road course. Have parts on hand and i feel you will be heading down the right track, my .02 cents. By the way do you have any JACO blues or CS-27's? I'm planning on coming out Sunday for some testing. See ya then. ~ George

Current tyre stock is Muchmore: 28 deg through 40 deg and Jaco 35deg we have move a few and they go pretty quickly..

I have an emergency job on a ship in Ft Lauderdale on Sunday but my wife will be here and the track will be open. Give us a call on 912 695 0440 ( Kim's number) and let us know what time you will be here.

Phil, best of luck with all your endeavors,I mean that. The online Oval community can be very trying just go ahead and do your thing and see how it works out.
There's 2.2 million people in Jacksonville/Duval Co. the only oval track in town struggles to get racers....hopefully you can do much better.

Phil;
I think it's great post on the Oval thread & I know you did (or still do) post on the on road thread,as I have raced on road since 1977. I, myself do not often check the on road threads often because we have been the only game in town for so long.
It's better to have 2 hooks in the water than 1,& you never ruled out an oval track. Either way your efforts are greatly appreciated.
I still think a carpet track & an outdoor offroad would be the best option, still with this economy I wouldn't want to make that decision.( you could race rain or shine)
Best of luck.

not to brag but...i think i missed 2 races held at cpt when it was open
and i know i made evry race at rpm when it was open

at the time i lived a solid hour or more from both places...
i have seen alot of nice indoor tracks close in less than a years time...

eugene you say that tampa has a good TC crowd? why only 40 entries at the last state race in tampa? they would need 40 entries every weekend for it to survive...inless the track is part of something alot bigger and the entry income doesn't mean as much to the owner?

You pick and chose your data, be for real. SS was a last minute change from one weekend to another and I believe they were not even scheduled to have a race. Look at the Adrenaline race and SS combined most racers are from the Tampa area.

Well said mate... you have to look at ALL the facts before you spout off...

I guess i will say it again as far as what I am doing is concerned:
The tracks I build are NOT a core business.... BUT they will be a passion for me. There fore if i get two people to race and they have a ball... I have achieved my goal.

The shop will be there to support the people that support the tracks. I can honestly promise that if someone comes to me with a current published price on a part I will match of better it.

I have to learn what races are running at what time in the state so as not to conflict with them... BUT with three tracks there will always be someone who wants to use one of them.. Plus the tracks will be open when the office is open that is to say basically 7 days a week.... 0700 to dark. The plan is in a short time to have the TC track covered with a removable cover so a little rain wont effect it either... ( of course we will see with that one)

My thoughts are that despite some quacking from the minority it will become a core business in a number of years because it will be set up to survive and work.

The decision has been made to NOT bank the oval and just to have the largest 10 ft wide tri-oval I can get into the space available.

Measuring and marking out will start on this coming weekend. As an aside there are a number of people coming at 0900 Saturday to practice and if there are enough we could put on an impromptu race.
