HobbyPLEX

Hello there!
This is the official information thread for the 2009 Roar Electric offroad nationals sponsored by Losi Xcelorin and Spektrum.
The race is being held at the HobbyTown USA Hobbyplex in Omaha, Nebraska June 24th through June 28th.
Information about the race will be updated often at the official website, www.2009roaroffroadnats.com
You'll find hotel info, directions, pictures, the schedule, official entry form when it is released, and updates on the progress of the track and eventually pictures of the layout, etc... So bookmark it and check it often.
I'll try and fend off some questions right off the bat...
There will be a Short Course demonstration class at the nats, using the new rules established this last week. Entries will be limited to 30 and you must be signed up for another class at the event. More info will be coming shortly I promise.
The stated tires for stock and super stock classes are Losi Red Ifmar Stud rears, Ifmar stud fronts for 4wd, Red Xtra wide rib fronts for 2wd, and Red Directionals for the front of truck. I chose this tire because I know they work and they will last a while.
Our track will be ran dry for the event and will groove up, although I highly doubt it will be a taper pin/Bar code kind of groove.
Our mod guys typically will run holeshots, bowties, ifmar stud and pins, and double d's and goosebumps. As you can tell, many kinds of tires work on our surface.
The Hotels are listed on the website and on the flyer when it comes out.
I highly suggest booking your room early and your best bet is to use the hotels directly north of the track in Missouri Valley, IA and Blair, NE. These two towns are only a 20-minute drive by interstate and the price is significantly cheaper than any hotel in Omaha.
There is a Holiday Inn across the street from the track, and if you ask for the HobbyTown rate its only $75 a night, but they are booked that week until Friday. I forsee a lot of people staying at a hotel farther away and then moving into the Holiday Inn Friday night.
The Plex has 175 4-foot pit spaces, with power, inside next to the carpet track. You can also pit outside if you like. We'll have a designated area ready. The Plex is locked up and secure at night, so you can leave your stuff in your pit of you like.
Campers are allowed, but you'll have to park them on the east side of the building.
The Plex has an open wireless connection, although when Liverc is going access will probably be limited to send the best signal.
Our drivers stand is Handicap accessable.
The Plex stocks parts for virtually everything.
Anyone wanting to come and practice for a warm up race in nationals conditions should come to our Electric Summer Series Round 1, Saturday May 16th and Round 2, Saturday June 6th.
...That's all I can think of for now. Sign ups are open online right now at www.roarracing.com. We already have a handful of entries.
