ts do you ever work?

MIKE VALENTINE

smokey i don't think you will ever need to offset the rear of the car. you will need to buy the optional battery trays also when offsetting the rear end. the standard 4 cell and 6 cell tray will not fit. theres only .062 between the lower pod plate and the standard battery tray, when offsetting the rear end it moves the lower pod plate .275 towards the left. meaning you need to but the optional top plate and the battery trays, 4 cell and 6 cell if you want to offset. the standard 6 cell tray and the rear steer options will be the first parts available then the top plate and other battery trays.

FYI FOR ALL, THE FIRST HYPERDRIVE 1/12 SCALE PROTOTYPES ARE DONE AND BEING TESTED.

Just rec'd my 0700's last week. These are absolutely the nicest cars I've seen. Quality, fit, finish, tuneability, etc... Hats off to the Hill's and their team for really turning Hyperdrive around 180 degrees.
Kudos to Team Hyperdrive for an excellent product.
If you can't get dialed with one of these, you may want to consider taking up Bingo as a hobby...

Those that know me best, know I am hard to impress when it comes to cars. This is the best car I have ever ran. It amazes me how well it turns. If you can reduce dual rate and still be fast that is a good thing. I am running 10 points less than I was with my Ad-10 last year. The first week was a little shakey but the last two weeks it has earned the "SE".

tripleh glad to see you will make it down to marshalls. you will need to run harder front springs at enfield then before. i ran purples on car with 4 cell stock. i would think greens for 6 cell, or 20's. good luck and i'll see you there. are you going to maine this weekend?

THE BAT i knew i'd get you running one. i run 4 cell mod there once, but it was with the older car. 20 front springs castor and chamber normal. 10 inch wheel base. front blacks rear grey trc's. center shock one hole forward, side shock inner holes top plate and second to the outside cross brace one rpm long ball cup and one short rpm ball cup. 50 weight center shock silver spring, 25 weight in sides red and gold side springs. 7.875 rear track, 3.95 right rear width from center line of car. standard front width but i have been running middle on new car. thats what i would start with. vary good choice you will not be dissapointed. i'll be back up the week after maine. hope to get a better turnout then i will run mod with you even if were the only two guys.

MIKE VALENTINE

no i run the stock castor block, and standard lenth top a-arms. the car has plenty of steering stock no need to add more.

HobbyMike,

I here is how I ran the car this weekend at Vinton(160 ft sweeping corners)

Short in the front, short in the back.

Green Front springs, very little castor, a little more in the RF, All stock front end parts with cross brace. I ran narrow on both sides. I have been running with the RF out but I liked it better in considering "weekly show traction" is not that great.

I ran off-set pod...I don't know if those parts are in production yet, the car comes with centered pod. You also need different battery trays to run the battery tray all the way back with the off-set pod, not sure what the deal is there on availability yet. I know they have been swamped with orders on the new cars!! There are already three or four in my area not including me. I also used the 6-cell tray that allows me to put the speed control in front of the battery, I have been running the battery all the way back(almost touching the LR tire).

50wt in the center, 30 wt in the sides
Blue LR, Gold RR, HPI light blue in the center
TRC double slot Spring Steel.

I would start with Three blacks and a white LR for tires.
I have been running the PF HD monte with a Big Thunder wing.

See ya at Trackside sometime this winter.

Could someone tell me what effect changing the top plate mounting position of the shocks will have? Inner verus outer holes. Thanks.

While we're on the subject of side shocks. What does changing the angle of the side shocks do to the shock? Some guys raise the outside ball stud.

Thanks.

Danny B
10-10-2002, 12:14 PM
HobbyMike, Yeah we are going to the Norrca carpet nats. I have just always like the off-set pod. It probably isn't a nessesity just a preferance thing.

Jimmy35R, I may be wrong on this...but I think anytime you make the shock longer by you gain more leverage on the spring making it act softer, which gives the car more chassis roll.

MKRace, raising the outer pivots will make the spring act more constent during collapse. When the car rotates the shock/spring angle changes which changes the "rate". The more level the springs/shocks the more constent it will be but I have never liked them perfectly flat cause the car would continue to rotate cause the springs don't get stiffer as the car goes through the corner like when there is some angle there and you gain angle in the corner. I don't know if that makes any sense to anyone, but I almost always run the medium outer ball studs.

i need to know who makes the springs for the side shocks and what kind of effect i will get when i change to the different colors....thanks

10-14-2002, 07:13 PM
Well all, I just ordered my new HD 0700 today.

I was going to buy the ADX chassis, but I learned that ADX has not gotten any graphite to cut in over a month. The hobby shop I talked to didn't have enough parts to make a kit.

That turned me off right away.

But a guy I know there is driving the new HD 0700 and convinced me to try it. I've been out of oval for about 3 years because oval died in our area and I sold all my oval car stuff -- now it's back and I can't wait!

I ran a HD SSE years ago -- early 90's ? It was fast but always was lifting the LF wheel off the ground in the corner.

Hope every thing guys are saying here is true about the new 0700 and I hope it's a good flat carpet track car !

Can't wait!

You will be very happy with the 0700 car. It is a car that will work on about anything. :)

just wanted to see if any of you have have a good setup start point for a high banked concrete oval 300ft + . also what difference does running a long and short rear end give you??

MIKE VALENTINE
10-15-2002, 10:16 AM
smokey asc makes springs for the shocks. the lighter the spring the more weight will transfer while cornering, but it will be slower to reset or transfer back comming off the turn. the opp is true with heavy springs.

TeamGoodwrench you shouldn't have the prblem with any of the newer stlye cars, any thing with side sides won't do that. but even the older cars shouln't have done that sort of thing, you most have not had enough left side weight in hte car.

Stewart Whitaker i haven't been on concrete yet with the car. but they did run vary well at the nats this past weekend. maybe eric a could help you out with a setup. running the car longer will help smooth thecar out, easier to drive on big tracks it helps, but small tracks feels better but most of the time slower on the clock.

Therocketkilller, sorry I havent been home alot I will call you tonight around 6:00 By the way how short is the 700?Mod is dead at marshalls 19t is in??????????time to find a new home i guess. And gave it up again (hose embarrased him).the racetech is ready to go are ya coming up for the openhouse race?sure hope to see you there and give you the whipps you deserve (ha ha ha)I will have some VERY impressive sticks for you to try:devil:!!!

impact hi, no problem i was away all weekend, maine race. you can adjust the wheelbase 10.5625, 10.3750, 10.1875, 10.0000, 9.8125, or 9.6250 i hope one of those is what your looking for,. i should make the open house, i'm also trying to get todd, and a fews others to make the trip. is bill going to allow 3300 or is he sticking to 3000 limit. whats the deal with the 19 turn crap. is it any 19 turn or arcor rules, i don't understand why it's so big a class the motors suck and are way to out of spec to be consistant. talk to you tonight. mike valentine team hd

dam you're on to my setup stealing tactics:lol: I believe Bill is stuck on 3000 for right now,as far as motors it's the chamelean 2 I believe because of the comm lock(dam comm lock).I know what you mean 19t sucks Hose is fast as hell go figure????he ran a dam fast 61 on sat.Ya gonna make it this weekend for a warmup?I want to run mod!!!ps Im asking for a friend what front width??

MIKE VALENTINE
10-15-2002, 01:30 PM
impact so why not have your friend ask,   just kidding i'm going to start with the car 10.00 wheel base and narrow both sides in the front. i've been running that setp on the other flat tracks. this past weekend i ran the long wheel base most of the day. i think it would have been better a little shorter but it's to late now. if he has to much steering go to the middle width both sides. i'm not a big fan of left/right different offsets, but it does work at some tracks. whats the hot motor out there now:confused: i don't know about this weekend, i'll ask the boss. i would think 19 turn should be just as fast as 6 cell stock was, 62's or a slow 63's. do you still have romos panasonic cell laying around or did you toss it. have you played any with the old peak batteries.

s0700 setup
here's the hot setup i used at WWW.GRCSR.COM a 166ft slightly banked ozite track...

-wheelbase(front middle...rear short....10")
-offset(rear offset...front left:IN right:OUT)
-battery tray all way to the front...pack in rear 4 slot(front slot empty)
-*WOLFE* springs(FRONT L:green std R:red std...REAR L+R:gold center:chrome TC3)
-damping(front:bolink#3 rear sides:40wt center:60wt piston#1)
-wedge(not much!)
-*BSR BLUES* tires(front L:40 R:44 rear L:36 R:40...LR rim width cut to 46mm)
-rear width(200mm)..LR 1mm out versus LF

in practice the car was little loose off...then i moved the right front all way out(it was in middle position...)then BINGO!

Mike did you have to use the rear cell holder on the battery tray at madness?Looks kind of hard to access with an iron if you run the batteries all the way back.

MIKE VALENTINE
10-17-2002, 09:36 AM
THE BAT yes i do run the rear slot at madness. i have always cut the battery bars shorter, so it has never been a problem, you can also tilt the rear bar towards the back of the car. or run it towards the outside of the car. i have seen some people solding the back connections before moving the pack into place, that seems to work too. see you saturday, i'm skippin ouy on south glenns falls just to long of a ride for the bumpy track. is kenny going to be there? how do you like the name change.
